Track student attendance within Teams
Everything is so cool, I love it, but could be possible to add a tab to keep track of the students attendance?

Hello awesome educators. Within the Insights tab educators now have access to engagement data including when students work on assignments, files, conversations/chat, and meetings. Please see this article for additional details:

As always, we appreciate your feedback.

Insights works great, but it doesn't record any data from guest users, which makes it a big problem for tracking attendance from students. Is there any way to obtain attendance reports from guest users?

Include in the attendance list to separate the users/student that were in the meeting and the ones that weren't (from the class team)

Hi
Not sure how much further you are on with this butThis feature would be very useful. At the moment classes for attendance are created as a single event that the students return to each time. However in Insights it is then not possible to see the student attendance, only the fact that they have visited the channel. If a unique event is created for each class then this does produce clear attendance information in Insight but that means that every class must be created as a single event. AND staff in the Team are notified on each occasion even if they are not taking the class. Students will have 15 -25 events each week so this becomes a mammoth task.
thanks

1. It would be nice to add a tab in our main screen that we can go back and see who attended which meeting.
2. YES. Even better... have an option like a timed-out option so teachers can see if kids are still there. They need to click on a button every five minutes or else get kicked out of the meeting. We have two hour classes and can't keep track if they are still there or not.
3. BOTH.
4. YES I will vote for that. -

Some children are not attend to the classes (Meeting) when their parents are unable to supervise. Even there is no option to the parents to check whether their child attend the class or not whenever they want to know. this give a chance to the children to mislead their parents, the parents are also feel insecure and they can't guide or counselling their children. So if we provide this option every student or his/her parent or the teacher can check their attendance report and accordingly they can take care. The attendance report form is better to give in attached file like calendar in teams.

Monthly attendance, weekly attendance percentage, and list of students with low attendance over a time period:
I am working in Shivaji College, University of Delhi, and classes and some other meetings are being taken on the Teams platform. Now for classes there is more or less a schedule which is more or less fixed with recurring classes being scheduled initially and if there is a need for additional classes or cancellations that may happen if needed . Personally, a channel for each subject is created in my app/account and each scheduled slot/class is shared to one of those channels. Also attendance is being downloaded near the end of every class in my classes. I have those individual excel sheets for each class/meeting for the three subjects allotted to me. Now there is a need for compilation of monthly attendance of each subject. Other things that have been asked for by college as periodical reporting are weekly attendance percentage of each class(average weekly attendance of each channel on my account) and list of students with low attendance over a time period(such a list for each channel of my account). Any and all help is welcome. -

Here's one possible solution for attendance outside of a video/audio class meeting. I conduct live class that looks more like a regular class (with limited screen time). Students start class with a 'Do Now' in the Group Chat portion of Teams. Please put an attendance report function in this Group Chat. Currently, analytics reports are delayed and of limited use, and (as a teacher) I do not have access.
Allow teachers to choose an 'Attendance' post when starting a new conversation. Right now, we can choose between an Announcement and a Conversation.
An Attendance post should limit student responses to reactions only.
For all students: limit recording student attendance to only choosing a reaction. The App can record the time that the student reacted so that teachers can see who is tardy. Teachers should be able to download an attendance report at any time.
Optional for Late students: teachers should be allowed to require a post for students who are late (in this post the student would explain the reason that they are tardy).
To improve Participation: A teacher could choose to post an 'Attendance' post more than once during a class period (especially if they could choose between requiring a reaction or a reply to a question).
Participation/Attendance Reports:
Teachers should be able to download an Analytics reports which shows the time and duration of all student interactiions. Attendance reactions, posts, etc -

Our high school equivalency program at the community college needs the ability to report the precise amount of time a student attends a virtual class meeting on teams (when did they arrive to the meeting and when did they leave). That would be amazing for us!

4. Perfect, done. -

For our purposes...
1. Yes
2. Yes (it would be great to be able to run reports and track attendance by student - even across classes by admins in a semester)
3. primarily physical classrooms, but meeting tracking integration would also be a huge assetIt would also be helpful to be able to customize options for attendance - e.g. Physically Present, Digitally Present, Absent, Excused Absence, Tardy, Auditor Absence, etc.

It should be like "Grade" tab. One tab "Attendance" where we can see list of student - day wise attendance fetched from channel meeting. When school resumes after lockdown - the ability for teachers to mark student present or absent manually for physical classes. Export to excel to download the same.
