  1. Hard mute students audio in a meeting (so they cannot unmute themselves)

Teachers should be able to mute students voices in a way that they cannot dis activate. This could be used for lecture. Or to stop students interrupting on purpose.

  2. Integrate Assignments with calendar

It would be very useful for communication with parents to get a link of the dates assignments that they can add in their Phone Calendar (or Outlook calendar,...). Students also love to be able to see that on their phone home screen. No excuses...! ;)

When an assignment is created in a class, it only shows up in the assignment tab within that class. In Classroom when an assignment was created it also showed in the students’ calendars. This would be a great addition especially if students are in multiple classes they’ll be able to see all their assignments in…

  3. Show more than 4 videos of multiple participants in a meeting/call and change video layouts in Team Meeting- 5+1, 9+1, 2x2, 8+2 (grid view)

I would like to be able to see video from all participants in a meeting/ call at the same time. Currently in a Teams call, we can only see a few participants video stream even if there are many more on the call.

We are excited to announce that large gallery view (7×7 videos) and Together mode are available to the public for desktop & mobile. Large Gallery is an optional feature and can be turned on at any time during the meeting. Large Gallery is available once 10 or more people have turned their video on. Together Mode is available once 5 or more people are in the meeting. For more information, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/using-video-in-microsoft-teams-3647fc29-7b92-4c26-8c2d-8a596904cdae.

Thank you for your feedback! Chat can be a powerful tool in educational settings, but we understand that in some environments chat can also come with student safety challenges. To assist schools where educator supervision in chats is desired, we have begun the roll out of our new Supervised Chat feature.

Supervised chat allows designated educators to initiate chats with students and blocks students from starting new chats unless an appropriate educator is present. When chat supervision is enabled, supervisors aren’t allowed to leave chats and other participants aren’t allowed to remove them, ensuring that chats involving students are properly supervised.

To learn more, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/supervise-chats-edu (admins) or https://support.microsoft.com/topic/supervised-chats-in-microsoft-teams-for-education-ad3aaafc-c85a-416f-95f9-d691f419cbb8 (end-users).

It’s important to note that this first version enforces supervision on new chats only. We are working on the next version, which will include enforcement on existing chats as well.

  5. "Wait in lobby" for student (participants) in scheduled meetings

In order to use scheduled meetings for teaching is necessary that the meeting organizer can force student to "wait in lobby" if they try to enter the meeting before the teacher.

In my case, students are part of the organization, they are not guests. For this reason, this functionality for my school is not possible.

The possibility to force participants (even if part of the organization) in the lobby is necessary, because otherwise students could use the scheduled meeting to enter by their own and talk privately without the teacher.

We are happy to announce the “Only me” option for the “Who can bypass lobby?” setting is now available for Teams meetings. Details on the new lobby option can be found here, https://support.microsoft.com/office/change-participant-settings-for-a-teams-meeting-53261366-dbd5-45f9-aae9-a70e6354f88e.

Additionally, we have updated our EDU specific guidance for meeting management. Please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/keeping-students-safe-while-using-teams-for-distance-learning-f00fa399-0473-4d31-ab72-644c137e11c8, for more information for both administrators and educators.

For the similar ask regarding hiding the lobby popup announcement, please upvote and comment this UserVoice item https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053/suggestions/41143039.

  6. Prevent students from starting a meeting unattended

It would be very useful to be able to prevent students from starting a meeting unattended, regardless of what type of meetings it is.

This because, when working with younger students, the best option is that only teachers can start new meeting (with other teachers and/or with students).

  8. Revert Assignments Format – show all assignments across class teams

Keep the original teams assignment format where we would see all the assignments in one place for all classes. With this new format we have to enter into select classes to see assignments, making it very difficult and inconvenient. Please change back to the old format! It helps all of us stay organized by seeing all the assignments in one screen.

  9. Prevent attendees inviting users within an in progress meeting

Currently, attendees are able to use the participants pane in an ongoing meeting to invite users to the meeting. In an education setting, this means disruptive/cheeky students are able to abuse the invite option to call anybody within the school.. There's absolutely no reason in an educational setting for students to be able to invite anybody they like to a live lesson (meeting) - we make them attendees for a reason!

There are two methods to block students from inviting users to an ongoing meeting: 1) Disable Call Me and 2) Ensure all students are attendees.

Admins: This feature is controlled at the organizer level. To prevent students from using this feature in class meetings, turn this Audio Conferencing setting off for educators organizing class meetings: Dial-out from meetings: Off

Educators: Set Who can present to Only me to ensure that your students and other participants join as meeting attendees.

For more information, please visit: https://support.microsoft.com/office/keeping-students-safe-while-using-teams-for-distance-learning-f00fa399-0473-4d31-ab72-644c137e11c8.

  10. Allow to split meeting in separate sessions (breakout rooms)

For online trainnings, we wish to allow to split a meeting into separate sessions. The meeting host can choose to split the participants of the meeting into these separate sessions automatically or manually and can switch between sessions at any time.

The teacher can host a meeting for all classroom and divide sub meetings for students work in small groups and after that they can return to main meeting with all students.

  11. Add a global admin setting for the default role of meeting attendee

If you want to make meeting attendees Participants by default (so that they can't present, mute you and remove from a meeting), then you have to manually change meeting options of a particular meeting and set "Who can present?". Today this option can't be set globally by default in Teams admin center. Please add this feature.

  12. Raise Hands in Team

The teachers in Hong Kong have been using Teams and OneNote to teach virtually at home during class suspension since early February. It’d be very useful if students are allowed to raise hands to ask a Q during meetings. So, teachers can be alerted and can provide instant feedback to individual students instead of being disrupted or not being aware of individual needs. Thank you very much!

  13. Please allow the upload of Folders. Not just a file.

We would like to be able to move folders from other areas to the File section of Teams. To create a folder and then upload files to it is too much work, especially if we have several levels of folders within folders.

  14. Allow the ending of a meeting to occur by the meeting organiser (i.e. the teacher of a classroom)

Please allow teachers who run a classroom via Teams the option to be able to end meetings. With the imminent closure of schools and needing to run classes online it would be very helpful to be able to do this. Teachers are not going to leave a meeting to let a student run it due to the plethora of issues that would arise so please allow us as the teacher in the Team to end a meeting.

We have released the ability for the meeting organizer to “End meeting” for everyone in attendance. For more information, please visit: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/end-a-teams-meeting-for-everyone-in-attendance-5051fa72-8470-4a38-99e4-014535208971.

To comment or upvote on allowing people other than the meeting organizer to end the meeting, see https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053/suggestions/40280926.

To comment or upvote on the ability to end meetings on mobile devices & tablets, go to https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053/suggestions/40444402.

  15. Ability to pause/turn off meeting chat (both during and after meeting)

I would like to disable & enable the chat function attached to a recurring meeting (or a past meeting). Students use the chat all hours and I can't be there to moderate.

  16. Upload Assignment Files Larger Than 50Mb

Our Music Tech class wants to use Assignments but we can't upload our videos as they all much larger than 50Mb. Most of our videos are at least 500Mb. Would it be possible to increase the maximum file size? Thanks :)

We’re excited to announce that the Weekly guardian email digest is now available!

With this feature enabled, Teams will automatically send parents/guardians a weekly email summary of past and upcoming assignments.

    How to get started:
    1. Setup Parent and Guardian Sync on Microsoft School Data Sync (SDS) and bulk add all your guardian emails: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/schooldatasync/parent-contact-sync

    2. Then O365 Admins can enable the ‘Weekly guardian email digest’ setting inside the new Assignments settings in the Teams Admin Center. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/expand-teams-across-your-org/assignments-in-teams

We can’t wait to hear your feedback.

  18. Assignment functions in Teams mobile app

I'm planning on using teams for classes the year. The phone app seems to be very limited. Is there a way to view assignments through the mobile app?

  19. Private Channels - Please add functionality to limit a channel to certain team members!!

I oversee all of the safety committees across our district. Some information is necessary for all committees but I'd love to collaborate with each committee individually as well. The ability to add certain members to certain channels would be SOOOO helpful!

Private channels enable focused private collaboration among a subset of your team. We are super excited to share that this feature is fully rolled out worldwide (including education users)!

You can find detailed information on the capabilities and management of the private channels feature here – https://docs.microsoft.com/MicrosoftTeams/private-channels.

There are four other types of channel functionality on our backlog – feel free to upvote and/or comment on the UV items listed next to each:
    - Channel only members: to enable collaboration with people outside the team in a specific channel, without granting them access to the team itself. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/31374577
    - Shared channels within an organization: allow people in different teams to collaborate on a shared project or v-team in the context of their own teams. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/18615565
    - Shared channels across organizations: allow people in an organization other than yours to collaborate on a shared project or v-team. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/32987917
    - Public…

  20. Ability to prevent students from editing files

If Files is going to replace classroom then the owner of the team needs to be able to decide if a file can be edited or not. Some files i need my students to be able to edit for homework, others i do not want them to change so i should have an option which enables or disables edit function for members when i upload a file.

We are excited to share that the read only folder, ‘Class Materials’ now comes built in to the Files tab of every class team! You should now see the Class Materials folder on new class teams as well as your existing ones.

You can read more about Class Materials here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/use-folders-to-create-read-only-files-for-students-or-other-team-members-0e7791d7-8c9c-4749-9bca-984289477988
