  1. Show more than 4 videos of multiple participants in a meeting/call and change video layouts in Team Meeting- 5+1, 9+1, 2x2, 8+2 (grid view)

I would like to be able to see video from all participants in a meeting/ call at the same time. Currently in a Teams call, we can only see a few participants video stream even if there are many more on the call.

As announced before, 3×3 video has been released to the Public ring on Windows and Mac! Additionally, we are actively working on supporting enhanced video views (up to 7×7) in meetings. The new Large Gallery feature supporting 7×7 will be released with the new pop-out meetings experience, which is beginning roll-out later this month.

Additionally, we are working on including more videos on supported mobile platforms. We will keep you posted!

  2. Hard mute students audio in a meeting (so they cannot unmute themselves)

Teachers should be able to mute students voices in a way that they cannot dis activate. This could be used for lecture. Or to stop students interrupting on purpose.

Thanks to everyone who has voted on this. The team is making progress to ensure we have a safe and secure way to allow teachers to “hard mute” students during a meeting. We will share more details as we have them.

  3. "Wait in lobby" for student (participants) in scheduled meetings

In order to use scheduled meetings for teaching is necessary that the meeting organizer can force student to "wait in lobby" if they try to enter the meeting before the teacher.

In my case, students are part of the organization, they are not guests. For this reason, this functionality for my school is not possible.

The possibility to force participants (even if part of the organization) in the lobby is necessary, because otherwise students could use the scheduled meeting to enter by their own and talk privately without the teacher.

Thanks again for your feedback on this. The team has begun working on an option requiring everyone other than the meeting organizer to go thru the lobby. We will continue to evaluate our best option to release with increased priority.

If, in addition to a per meeting control, you are looking for admin level control to prevent students from starting any meeting or any calls without educators present, and want to apply this control regardless of whether a meeting organizer remembers to change the lobby option, please vote on this UV item – https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053/suggestions/39962347

  4. Prevent students from starting a meeting unattended

It would be very useful to be able to prevent students from starting a meeting unattended, regardless of what type of meetings it is.

This because, when working with younger students, the best option is that only teachers can start new meeting (with other teachers and/or with students).

Thank you for all the feedback. Unfortunately we need to temporarily disable this new feature on web and desktop to address an issue that has been found. A fix is underway and we will update here when the new feature is rolled back out. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for the feedback and waiting for this feature with patience. We have enabled download of a meeting attendance list during a meeting. This is released for general availability. Please note this feature is turned off by default, and needs to be enabled via admin policy.

See documentation for this feature here: https://support.office.com/article/download-attendance-reports-in-teams-ae7cf170-530c-47d3-84c1-3aedac74d310

Note: We are continuing to work on enabling download after a meeting has concluded, as well.

    Thanks.

  6. Prevent attendees inviting users within an in progress meeting

Currently, attendees are able to use the participants pane in an ongoing meeting to invite users to the meeting. In an education setting, this means disruptive/cheeky students are able to abuse the invite option to call anybody within the school.. There's absolutely no reason in an educational setting for students to be able to invite anybody they like to a live lesson (meeting) - we make them attendees for a reason!

  8. Ability to record meetings in private channels

Holding meetings in private channels is really useful (students don't need to know when instructional staff is meeting), but I want the ability to record them like I can in a general channel. Recording 1-1 meetings would also be helpful to international students who could then review them.

  9. Allow the ending of a meeting to occur by the meeting organiser (i.e. the teacher of a classroom)

Please allow teachers who run a classroom via Teams the option to be able to end meetings. With the imminent closure of schools and needing to run classes online it would be very helpful to be able to do this. Teachers are not going to leave a meeting to let a student run it due to the plethora of issues that would arise so please allow us as the teacher in the Team to end a meeting.

    1. As stated last time, based on the volume of recent feedback, we fast-tracked adding the ability for meeting organizers to end a meeting for all participants with the click of a button one-time. This was released to the public ring today.
    1. In addition, the team has begun working on an option requiring everyone other than the meeting organizer to go thru the lobby. Once that feature is available, attendees will be placed in the lobby when rejoining the meeting, the setting will be available in meeting options for each meeting. Please see this UV item – https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053/suggestions/39962434.

  10. Allow to split meeting in separate sessions (breakout rooms)

For online trainnings, we wish to allow to split a meeting into separate sessions. The meeting host can choose to split the participants of the meeting into these separate sessions automatically or manually and can switch between sessions at any time.

The teacher can host a meeting for all classroom and divide sub meetings for students work in small groups and after that they can return to main meeting with all students.

  11. Live event concurrency

Increase the number of concurrent live events to more than 15 per tenant - required to enable large cohort remote teaching which is a massive priority for universities at the time of the Coronavirus worldwide incident.

Universities will often have more than 15 large lectures running at the same time and increasing the number of live events to 30 or 45 will allow universities and colleges to remotely teach large numbers concurrently

  12. Increase maximum meeting participants to 500

Currently, meetings are limited to 250 participants.
We have several departments within our organization containing 250-500 employees.
Because the current Teams meeting maximum size is 250, we use other applications to host meetings for these departments.
We would like to be able to use Teams for these larger group meetings.
Please increase the number of participants in meetings to 500.

This feature request is being reviewed by the feature team. No new details to share at this time.

Meanwhile, feel free to share the ideal maximum participants in a meeting, what type of meetings are those (lectures? staff meetings? school wide announcement?) Are all participants students? Thanks,

  13. Virtual background of the video in a meeting

Add a virtual background feature where you can block out the original background but it is not just blurred, it is fun and exciting.

We are happy to announce that pre-selected images for background settings on desktop is rolling out to the public ring this week. This includes some special images that are appropriate for EDU customers. We are continuing work to support user-initiated custom background images as well – stay tuned!

  14. Access to Meetings Options when creating a Meeting

Seems to be that you can only change the options for a meeting once it has been created and scheduled.

Please make them available when creating the meeting.

Especially useful if you're using Meet Now for a classroom of children, and you don't want all of them to be a Presenter.

  16. People with hands raised should be listed in the order they raised their hands, not alphabetically

In accordance with Robert's Rules of Order, I would like it if people who raised their hands were listed in the order that they raised their hands, so that I can take questions or comments in the order that they arose. I have noticed meeting organizers sometimes give undue attention to people whose names come first in the alphabet because of the way the names are listed currently.

  17. ‘Leader’ controls for Virtual Meetings

The meetings works fine if you have a group of grown-ups, but if you have a situation like teacher+pupils you need better controls.

    1) Teacher can ‘mute all’
    2) Pupil can ‘raise hand’ to speak.
    3) Teacher can unmute individuals
    4) Teacher can ‘give control’ to pupils.
    5) Teacher can ‘take control’ back
    6) Pupils can ‘request’ but not ‘take’ control.
    7) Teachers should be able to write in OneNote in a meeting window.

    And so on.

With the possibility that Coronavirus could result in school closures, the meetings features could be about to be stress tested. At the moment,…

  18. Uncompressed audio/ no AGC for Music classes - Band, Choir, Orchestra

For music classes on Teams that are audio based, it is really important to have:

    1. uncompressed audio feature for original quality sound (Zoom has it)

    2. turn off auto gain control that compresses dynamics

    3. turn off any other "smart" audio features that will change the original sound quality such as background noise reduction or microphones that turn off until a sound is detected

    4. reduce sound lag (latency)

  19. Multiple Screen Share

In Teams you can only share one screen at a time. I work in an office where we use 2-3 screens. Being able to share multiple screens at one time would be very beneficial.

  20. We need a circle-format for meeting/conferencing/collaborating

We need a circle-format that highlights each person in the group and relates to a visual format, as if the students were actually sitting in a circle for education purposes and for implementing restorative justice circles in a distance learning format. This should include a virtual "talking piece" that would show up next to someone's name in the participant list, and at the same time, when the virtual talking piece is passed, the speaker's mic should turn on, and the other mics should automatically be muted. The icon for the "virtual talking piece" should be either a ball or a…
