Turn off message preview in notification toast
Currently, when I receive a message, a preview of this message is displayed in the notification toast. As we will be using Teams at work, it would be great for privacy if I had the option to turn off these previews, so the notification toast will just say "New Message from XY"

To provide you with even more privacy, Teams now lets you turn off message previews in your desktop notifications. Message previews are on by default. To turn them off, go to your profile picture, select Settings > Notifications > Show message preview. From here, switch the toggle to off.

MS Teams SUCKS. That's the problem. It's almost as if Microfsoft didn't even try with this platform. We all know they have the ability to do better than this, but they didn't put in the effort. My kids have been telling me for years that Microsoft sucks, now I understand why. LOL

Only the first message rec'd showing up would also be great instead all messages rec'd popping up (similar to skype). People often send many short messages in a row, so this would be less distracting.

How long will this "review" take? April 2020, same problem.

I would just like to see the Teams taskbar icon flashing or highlited to inform I have a new message waiting. Just as you did with Skype for Business. The system you have currently is highly inappropriate for a corporate environment.
Not having nothing doesn't work either. -

In reply to the post below, that doesn't work, or at least, it doesn't have the desired effect. As is explained in the same thread, that disables ALL notifications, not just Toast notifications.
Most people, including myself, just want to disable Toast popups specifically.

The fact is Team is an inflexible platform. With that in mind how many of this type has Microsoft made to disappear with not notice.

Any update? It's been under review since Oct 19! this is already unbelievable that the option to customise the banner (to hide text but also manage size and time it stays on screen) doesn't already exist, but the fact that no ones seems to care at Microsoft is beyond me.

Many schools are now using Teams to try to keep lessons going in these difficult times - with 20+ pupils on at any one time the teacher rightly asks them all to mute sound and turn off video - and asks them to contribute via the chat which displays on the right hand side of the screen share. But every-time someone comments toast pop ups appear over the 'chat' which is extremely distracting for both teacher and pupil who are trying to follow the conversation/answers to q's. Any chance you can prioritise this dev task to help teachers and pupils all over the country continue to educate our kids as effectively as possible? Thanks Sam

Please please please please please please fix this. This is beyond annoying. How is this even a thing? All these years of experience with Skype, but you did absolutely nothing with that knowledge it seems... This was never a good idea, please fix this.

Is there an update on being able to still get the pop-up, but without the message preview?

This in unbelievable that there is no other option than no notificationsd or gigantic rectangles popping up. It's been under review for 6 months?? what are they doing? I tried removing the Banners as some other users and then you miss all the messages. Can't we have a middle ground??? i remember some chat competitors 20 years ago better than that.

in these weeks of WFH where i am running TEAMS in two locations (Local computer for voice / video, remote computer for CHAt/Screen/content share) this has become even more annoying.
I get toast popups from my local computer, over the top of my VM for a chat i'm actively taking part in. TEAMS does not let me set notifications per instance so i cannot turn it off on one session only.
This needs more votes.

In spirit of this thread, I'd like to see a color coded icon telling me there are new chats, but not show each chat popup. Super distracting.
