Turn off message preview in notification toast
Currently, when I receive a message, a preview of this message is displayed in the notification toast. As we will be using Teams at work, it would be great for privacy if I had the option to turn off these previews, so the notification toast will just say "New Message from XY"

To provide you with even more privacy, Teams now lets you turn off message previews in your desktop notifications. Message previews are on by default. To turn them off, go to your profile picture, select Settings > Notifications > Show message preview. From here, switch the toggle to off.

This is absolutely essential. I have had messages that customers should not be seeing come through while sharing my screen with them.

So, any updates? Been a while this was raised.

This is SO important. I lose a lot of productivity exiting out of toast notifications so I can do something or see something during a meeting etc. I only need 'one' toast no matter how many messages I have.
Also if I could have different settings when in a meeting (or busy) and when I'm not.

We are having this awful product enforced on us - and one of the problems is this inability to restrict pop-up notifications to ensure privacy of content.
How can this feature still not have been added in the 2.5 yhears since the idea was mooted?
As I recall MS also messed this up in Skype by downgrading the feature that the old messaging tool they bought up offered...

Utterly critical. Won't use Teams on a regular basis until this is in. Simply cannot afford to have some message about financial performance pop up on the bottom of my screen when it's broadcast to a room of customers. I need notifications that can't be missed but don't divulge the message. Skype had several such options, now there's holdouts like me in our company who are refusing to move to Teams.

Can we please get an update on this feature regression from Skype for Business?
Notifications of a pending message without the message detail (sender and message) is important to retain privacy when the screen is shared during meetings. This used for work in Skype for business with a discreet flash in the taskbar. -

This is so annoying, One of the most used features of Skype wasn't transferred to MS team, bravo Microsoft user experience team. We need the notifications without the message, how complicated is that.

PLEASE DISABLE THESE!! Not only are they super annoying, they're SUPER ANNOYING. And the block the screen when I'm typing in other Teams windows.

The options to show notification in Teams should be similar to that in Outlook, i.e., independently choose whether you want the distracting desktop notification, an icon in the system tray, and possibly an overlay icon on the task bar. I definitely want to know that I have received a chat message; I just don't want it to to be so distracting and cover parts of the screen. Outlook has it right, so each person can choose the settings that suit their style of working.

1 vote for this features! But also could be a hit the reverse: My collegue would like to have a "save the blushes" option... When they send a message they don't want that to be poped up on my screen!
Not to be discretionary by the recipient but a mandatory setting on the sender side... -

Two years to get to 'under review'. Six months of 'review' so far. Maybe this will be released by 2030?

Yes, please! It is annoying for this to pop up when I am sharing my screen on webex!
What is the status of this work? -

Yes!! Ugh.. the toast notifications are soooo impeding my work. Please give us a way to turn those off, but still see that someone wrote something on the chat by using the taskbar icon.

I am just wondering, disabling toast message is a very old and very useful feature. It's very awkward while screen sharing that a message pops up and everyone is suddenly quite and probably reading it.
Please fix this. As a temporary solution, now I have to schedule meetings in zoom and stop teams before starting the meeting. -

I agree the notification options for this are VERY lacking. I dont' need or want a "preview", it is sufficient for me to know I have a new chat by the icon flashing and showing a # to show i have multiple chats waiting for me. The pop-up is distracting and gets in the way of what I'm doing, so I don't want that regardless of what it says. The fact that it ALSO shows part of the message is definitely a privacy concern however.

More notification options are desperately needed within Teams, especially for chats.

This is a major issue. Please come up with a better middle ground than having to turn off all chat notifications to tone down the toast notifications and resolve privacy concerns. Thanks!

Still under review? Accept the improvement or reject it. Why it is being kept "Under Review" from the past 6-7 months. How long does it take to review?
