Turn off message preview in notification toast
Currently, when I receive a message, a preview of this message is displayed in the notification toast. As we will be using Teams at work, it would be great for privacy if I had the option to turn off these previews, so the notification toast will just say "New Message from XY"
I’m excited to announce that this feature is in internal testing, and should be coming soon.
Agree - it would be a reason to turn off notifications at all!

Absolutely a necessity! I'm just going to turn off the notifications.

Can this be added as an option? It's really annoying to get these messages while presenting and even just when working. Try to get less distracted by notifications. This doesn't really help..

Many times a presentation is done with a local audience and no conferencing solutions are needed. This means it doesn't trigger the DND/presenting as I'm not "sharing my screen" -- so new chats will populate with the preview on the monitor I'm directly plugged into and presenting with.
It seems like a big gap in functionality to not allow disabling previews of messages but instead require a manual shift into DND status or turning off chat message notifications on an ad hoc basis.
Please consider pushing out this enhancement considering how long Slack has had this feature.

I'm going to ask my teammates to register for this forum and vote for this idea too, since so many of them have complained to me about this and asked me if I know the option to turn these messages previews off :)
This is so important! My options at work are either to not have privacy or to turn off notifications and potentially miss things.
we really need this, please.

Looks to be an issue for over a year, does anyone have any insight if it was addressed ever? Slack and Gchat make this too easy to not have a feature. Ugh. Miss you Slack!
This is very important! we need to be able to control what content may randomly pop up on desktop alerts.

I don't like to use Teams desktop version because of this.
We need privacy during customer meetings!
Please allow this to be turned off. It also has another bug to it where it will keep an orphaned window up that there is no way to get rid of without killing the entire app
Teams should absolutely enhance the message notification options as they seem very limited. Ultimately, I want a more discrete notification for chat messages than is offered today.
a pop-up without message preview or have the icon in the tray bounce or glow maybe?

There is an important difference:
- New message in a chat: Message preview (with content) is shown as a toast
- New message in a conversion: Message preview is not shown (only '<name> mentioned you in team x' as a toast), there is no message content shown
- This suggestion is to turn off the new message notification (toast) completely

this so urgent, I receive so many messages that I literally can't interact with anything located at the left bottom of the screen, closing the messages don't help cause other come in
Currently each single line of message gives a different pop-up on the screen which can really build up and fill the entire screen. Can these indeed please be hidden?
Yes!! I was looking all over for this feature....

This was asked for in https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17058172-allow-setting-to-remove-message-contents-in-banner but the solution was to hide banners when in presenting mode, which isn't really a solution.
Being able to see who notified you without the content of the message being displayed for all to see is vital for privacy, security and sensitivity.
I also want this feature!
This may also be related to this: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/33648187-add-the-option-to-disable-message-previews-in-the
Please instate this feature! Every other message app provides the ability to hide previews to prevent dreaded shoulder-surfing. So far, I really like teams, but this functionality is an absolute necessity, and the lack thereof currently is putting a damper on my enthusiasm for the product. Thank you!
