Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
We are continuing to work on this feature. As with Windows notifications, we are also doing work to give users the choice between Teams notifications & Mac notifications.
We will update you as work progresses.

To promote social distancing, Microsoft is purposely making it so you don't get notified of anything. This luckily includes messages that would encourage gathering.

Any big plans for the two year anniversary of "Working On It"?
Is it done yet?

I have to quit Teams to get any focused work or when I share my screen in meetings. Oh wait — I use Teams for my meetings. Doh!
I second that: Teams should respect macOS notification settings and Teams notifications should sit in the Notification Center.
Thank you for this great tool!
Why is this not fixed yet???

first working on it - April 24 2018 - this is ridiculous
Are there any workarounds for this until Microsoft looks after people WFH during the coronavirus pandemic? This is very urgent.

When will there be another update on the rollout of this feature? It's becoming critical as many people are working remotely and constantly needing to stop what they are doing to check the Teams app for notifications that popped up and disappeared. Thanks in advance, we would all appreciate a native OS notification feature!

This is a much needed basic thing. If you working with Teams open but not displayed on the screen you're just missing half of the thing if you don't have your sound on :(
Teams is an Electron app, which has a very simple push notification API. How did you manage to make it so ******** complicated?
We're dealing with this massive virus thing and all forced into this application to work from home and we have to deal with this awful notification system. Seriously Microsoft, it would take like 1 hour tops to just use the system notifications and end this madness. We have enough to deal with right now without missing notifications because you're too proud to admit your proprietary notification system was a total failure. 3000 plus votes and nearly 500 comments and you can't even get this right. Total fail, what a joke.
I need this feature so I don't miss notifications from my students. My department standardized on teams instead of slack.
Seriously. Post the code on github and just let the community fix this ffs.
We started working from home today, the company has decided on Teams as our go-to app for communications, and I've already missed quite a few messages because of this.
Nothing's been massively important, fortunately, but it's not good to look like you're skiving on your first day at home!
I know that it's not hard to use the Mac notification system, I've done it (although it was a couple of MacOS versions ago). As Teams Engineering have been "working on it" for almost 2 years, I'd be inclined to believe at this point that this feature is never going to be released.
Unless there's something really, really bad about the Teams codebase that makes notification integration extremely difficult, there's no way it should be unfinished after 23 months of work.
We moved from slack to teams. And it's been frustrating. I'm missing a lot of messages from my team. Everyone is asking why I haven't responded, or they aren't responding to me. It's bc we missed the message notification. Please add this feature. Especially now that everyone is going remote.

Those custom notifications on Mac are super distracting. Idea was submitted in 2016, any progress?

⏰ Please come on Microsoft. Teams now does not adhere to "Do not disturb" mode due to the custom notifications.....
