Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
We are continuing to work on this feature. As with Windows notifications, we are also doing work to give users the choice between Teams notifications & Mac notifications.
We will update you as work progresses.

Holy ****! This isn't rocket science. You have been working on this super simple feature for over two years now? You could have written a whole new app by now.
I work with several monitors and I need the notifications to pop up in the standard top right of my main monitors to properly keep on top of Teams (I run my my comms software, outlook, etc) on a secondary monitor to give screen space to my main work.
Without the notifications popping up i have to choose between missing things for some time or constantly checking teams....
Yes pleeeeaaassee. MS Teams notifications end up *UNDER* the real OS notifications, so they're very easily missed / impossible to interact with before sliding away / outside of the queue of other notifications. It's a real mess. The sooner the option exists to make the notifications *real actual OS notifications* the better, especially now that we're relying on the tool much more heavily with COVID-19 making my team / whole university remote.
Please prioritize this! Use standard OS APIs on the Mac! Thats just basic "being a good platform citizen" ya'll!

There's even a persistent window, which can be given focus using Cmd+Tab. Which sucks, as it breaks multi-desktop setups, as the desktop with the main window won't be brought to the front. This very much sucks big time.
Probably the Teams team uses Teams to communicate. That's why everything takes so long. We went back to emails for now.

As more and more companies require/suggest that employees work from home due to COVID-19, this is a stark reminder about how little Microsoft cares about their customers and users...

@alex shame on Microsoft team!
It is hard to understand what is taking this long for this feature.
Every app I use on Mac uses the OS notifications.
I am very often in fullscreen mode and mute and I can't see or hear the notifications.
Wtf guys if you can’t do this let me do it for you ?

Pleeaaaaaase implement it, I cannot live with this!
My outlook and teams notifications are always interacting at the most critical moment and I am getting MAD!
Since nearly 2 years working on it. For what? Using the OS notification mechanism?
Anyone still believes MS is really thinking about implementing this?
Agreed, we need MS Team notification to work more reliably on MAC OS. At the moment it is very spotty.

Guys we're paying big money for Teams, but macOS notifications are a very basic requirement. A junior programmer could do that. Just implement this feature already!
The lack of it is detrimental: I need to **CLOSE** Teams if I don't want to be distracted because the system-wide notifications toggle is ignored.
I can't begin to imagine the level of hubris that must exist to ignore what people have been complaining about for over three years, and instead double down on the poor UX of Teams notifications on macOS.
Aside from the already-mentioned issues of Teams notifications being obscured by system notifications, and Teams notifications not being visible when an app is in full-screen—there's also an issue when switching virtual desktops in a multi-monitor setup that causes a horizontal line to cascade across the primary screen from the length of the bottom shrinking towards the top-right corner.
Enough is enough! Stop persisting with a poor user experience, and support native notifications only.
Come on guys. Adding to the literally hundreds of comments requesting this. Ludicrous that it's taken now 4+ years to implement this. This could be done in weeks. Nobody wants custom notifications, it needs to be scrapped completely. Just use native notifications, like most every app.

Can we get a comparison of how much time you're spending purging comments you don't like vs programming a fix?
Seriously. "working on it" 4 years later. Sad

I can't believe this has been lingering since 2016. No apps on OSX have a need for their own notifications. It's incredibly frustrating.

Please just get native macOS notifications out, and spare the work for a choice. It is so annoying to quit teams before every meeting because the macOs DnD setting is not honoured.

I WANT THIS!!!! i NEED this. My teammembers are waiting for me all day to respond and i don't get notified.
