Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
We are continuing to work on this feature. As with Windows notifications, we are also doing work to give users the choice between Teams notifications & Mac notifications.
We will update you as work progresses.

I still don't understand why it wasn't built this way from the beginning, both here and in Windows 10. Why is this still "under review" instead of "being worked on"? There's nothing to review! Just make it already!

This is becoming a big problem for us, we're missing key notifications within the team and from our clients, as it doesn't show notifications on top of other Windows, it doesn't even make the dock bounce

You weren't able to fix this after more than a year?? I am not able to mute Teams at home or at the meetings. It works with every single app, but Teams are still jumping over my content! Pretty please, hire some UX designers. It could prevent this kind of nonsense behavior at the beginning.

If there is a system technology use it instead of implementing your own solution. So for notification. There is a great notification system build into macOS. Teams uses its own notification system which has different problems and a bad user experience.
It's unforgivable that I'm missing notifications due to working in full screen spaces, I utilise most programs in full screen so I miss 90% of Teams notifications (no exaggeration, I've possibly even undershot that value), other issues aside this needs to be rectified at a bare minimum.

The notification takes up a lot of real estate on a MacBook and covers open tabs on Chrome / Safari / in-use applications and it's incredibly frustrating when you just want to click and dismiss without the entire MS Teams window opening. An update on this simple functionality request would be marvellous.

Current notifications do not appear when in other full screen app, which results in me not reading any messages on time:( Please change to default macOS notifications
The current non-native notifications are the worst part about Teams at the moment (followed closely by stealing focus when the window is hidden). Please fix MS!!!

This is my one big gripe with Teams on macOS. When I give online demos or teach webinars, I'm able to silence all of my notifications by "Option + Click" on the notifications menu, except for teams. During my presentations, Teams notifications continue to come through.
Please switch to macOS System Notifications, and take note of all of the duplicate suggestions here that also have many votes.

It is embarrassing for MSFT that this is not implemented, and embarrassing for me when i am presenting.
Also please add a teams notification snooze feature like a certain company that i guess isn't "slacking" has.
Additionally to all what's already written, and I totally agree, Teams does increase the volume while it plays the sound. The volume (using external bluetooth speaker at home office) is much louder. The volume doesn't go back to original settings, only if I use one of the volume adjustment buttons on my MacBook keyboard.
This is annoying and I turn off all notifications now.

Just adding to the list of comments that the current implementation of notifications does not follow the macOS Do Not Disturb feature. This is extremely annoying that when I am presenting something, notifications keep showing up when they are not supposed to, and on top of that, I can't easily swipe them away.
I hope this is on the roadmap!

The way notifications is implemented in Teams for Mac is just rude.
I'll further this to say "native notifications across platforms". This is a super annoying issue on both OSX and Win10 since the Teams client doesn't use native notifications in either version.
Because of this, they overlap with the placement of native Win10 notifications and don't adhere to Quiet Hours (or DnN on OSX).
