It would be helpful to understand what triggers Personal mentions, Channel mentions and Team mentions notifications.
IE: Team mentions: does it notify you when someone mentions a team you are in, you are mentioned by a team member, or you were a part of a mention in a team chat
I agree with many here, that i keep missing team discussions if im not tagged. i wpuld like better notifications for groups

We have Teams set up with loads of different main teams with sub channels. Currently there only is a highlight of the channel in a Team in bold when there is a new post/happening.
I request to have a badge number on the main Team itself to show that there is a new post/item occurence in the Team itself.
- Team: Feedback
- Channels: -General - Software - Hardware
A new post is made in -Hardware
Feedback will show as: Feedback (1) and will be entirely BOLD
Being able to mute threads is really important, the clutter that a really active thread can cause when it may not be relevant to you makes the tool almost unusable. ie. we had a general thread that said to join a group msg. the poster, so each msg. reply below is an individual saying "add me" or the like but each person added now gets every "add me" and every reply from the poster saying "added" and the volume is blocking out other important notifications and running down cell phone battery to a maddening degree. I would like to be able to right click and say stop receiving notifications about this post the way you can on Facebook and other tools. And a larger array of options should be available in the notification section to say which teams you want what kind of notifications for and which types of messages you want what kinds of notifications for so I can keep replies to general posts off my phone notification options to prevent the battery issues.

Marking items as critical would be ideal. We have channels for production issues. Those channels need notifications that are important. Popups that stay up, sounds, etc.

Agreed with Dave.
Would also be nice if the conversations in MS Teams showed up in the corresponding Groups in MS Outlook. Seems very disjointed that it doesn't.
Ability to mute threads too.

Do we have any expected release date for this features? We are still waiting for it before using actively teams
When an individual sends an initial message to their Team, the other members see the message. However, they do not receive notifications for new messages. You only receive notifications if an individual replies to your message.
We currently use an external program called Office Chat as it has pop up notifications and flashing for team chats. this is essential so happy you have it planned.
Missing notifications constantly. Slack notifications on desktop, mobile, and watch make sure I don't miss a message.
Agree with all the comments here, I am constantly missing conversations and messages in Teams because there is no sound or push notification to alert me when I'm not tagged in a conversation. Major downside compared to Slack, where both desktop and mobile app make sure I don't miss a message but also allow a level of customization on notifications by channel if some are lesser priority / critical to the working day.

Ability to set/reset "flags" on members in the team. This would help to allocate Action Items to a member, and for him/her to be able to reset the flag, once the activity is completed..

Need the ability to setup email notifications. Most of our organization logs on infrequently and I'd like to have the ability to notify them via email, when a group is tagged. Need more options here for sure.
For us macOS users, it'd also be a fine time to actually start using the Notification Center so I can track notifications after the banner disappears.
Definitely need a badge and or bouncing icon in the application dock to know when you have a new message
Notifications need a major overhaul in my opinion. The banners are too temporary, I don't want emails because they defeat the purpose of Teams as a separate tool, and I never ever get notification icons anywhere on my desktop (task bar or quick launch).
