Ability to pin message/files/articles shared within a channel.
Guys, please add pinned items for channels. We often pin important articles/messages/files so that the whole team can see it. Very important!

Thank you for your feedback! We are updating this as “Partialy Done” as our first step to solving for pinned posts has been released! Pinned posts allows users from a team to pin a message for everyone in the channel to be able to easily reference. While any message can be pinnable, we expect our users to use this feature to pin information like channel guidelines or important announcements. We know this doesn’t solve all pinning scenarios, and that there is still a need to make this easier for users to find, especially within the message list. We will share another update as soon as it is available.

Would like to rearrange the order of tabs in a Teams channel. I'm surprised that this isn't an option already.

Just like others have stated.. a Pinned post needs to be in the members faces. Noticeable every time they are in that channel until the post is unpinned. Right now this function is quite useless. Would like to see that this becomes a higher priority with many business teams working remotely with a high probability of continuing to stay remote. As a manager of a production group I need to be able to post a message that is pinned to the top of the chat channel to ensure that the post doesn't get lost and my team who works different hours of the day don't miss important action items.

It would be better to have pinned posts at the top of the Info panel or be able to rearrange the items in the info. Depending on number of members and activity, pinned posts are displayed all the way down the panel :-(

This is a disappointing first step, but at least it's a first step. I would like pins to appear at the top of a channel or chat and stay there until unpinned.

Discord and Slack have more visible and easier pins. I hope this improves soon!

Would love to "Pin" important posts in a group chat. I do realize that I can save/bookmark for myself, but I would like to pin key information (for the team) that is often shared in a group chat (non-channel) and gets lost after new messages are posted to the group chat.

It seems simple to allow moving another tab ahead of "Posts" and "Files" in a channel. For example, a Wiki tab, SharePoint Site, Power BI Report, Dataverse form, etc. might make a better default tab, especially in the General channel. I know that doesn't solve everyone's scenario, but this is a fast way to make this flexible.

It's fine as a first step, and I appreciate that you acknowledge that it isn't solving the problem. But... this REALLY doesn't solve the problem. People have to know to click the info button to see the post.
Just make it something that shows up at the top of the window when they open the channel and scrolls away or compresses as they scroll up / down. It doesn't need to even be in the message list - it can be a compact banner hovering over content in the main window. Like an alert.

Pinned Posts that are Announcements should not only not be deleted but also remain visible while other posts scroll under it (like a page header) until the author or team owner removes the pin or deletes the post. Is that the functionality being implemented???????????

yeah, as others have said, the "partially done" version of this doesn't solve the request at all. Hoping to see pinned posts be permanently shown on the posts tab rather than hidden under the "i" icon where no one knows it's there

I'm encouraged to see some progress on this. Like others have said, this isn't the solution we're looking for, but the fact MS only called this PARTIALLY DONE shows that they probably get that. Hopefully an update will follow soon that will enable the functionality we're looking for.

This is pretty much why people want to pin posts. Which makes only showing them in the "Channel Info" remarkably useless.

Good, now could we have it actually be useable by not hiding it ?
Either place a Pinned messages button at the Top (like discord), or as a top bar, or give us the ability to create a Pinned messages tab -

As you know and have indicated, this is not what anyone, anywhere, ever, has ever meant by a pinned post. I believe that this community wants posts than can be pinned to the top of a channel by the channel owner. Like WordPress and most other systems.

This ain't it.

I have the feeling that the current implementation of pinned posts is more like a 'Save message for everyone', where the key requirement was that the feature should work for any number of posts.
In my opinion, the most popular use case for 'real' pinned posts is making users aware of any channel rules/guidelines. Such pinned posts should immediately catch the attention when a user opens the channel and no extra user action at all should be needed to show/find such posts.
Maybe it's an idea to implement a 'Pin on top' option for a limited number of posts (1 or 2, so that they don't take away too much space for the regular posts)? However it's done, I think there's a real need to be able to have select permanent information readily visible (eye-catching) when a user opens the channel.

While it is slightly more useful than having to bump topics down. Hiding pinned posts under an extra click and scroll action sort of goes against the whole idea of the post being "Important."
Not to sound pedantic but many of the users of Teams EDU both adult and child are NOT computer experts, much less well versed in how communication software in the vein of Teams works. Both the adults and the students need simple, obvious, clear options.
Teachers shouldn't have to jump through hoops to keep static information maintained in a single place on the page.
Discord, Reddit, Facebook, Yahoo Groups, Forums, BBS systems from 30 years ago now, and countless other communication group software places a pinned post at the top or bottom or otherwise most current location in the news feed. Even in OUTLOOK when you "Pin" something it stays at the top.

why hidden in the little 'i' ?

Unfortunately this provides little to no benefit. Adding a new tab with a Word doc that refers to this information would be more visible and useful.
I think most people want pinning to immediately draw attention to a specific post when they go into a channel. With the current approach, someone has to know that something is pinned to go looking for it.
