Make public channel private
It would be nice to convert some of our already established channels to private now the feature is available in the same way it may be desired to de-classify a private channel to public at some point too.
Currently a channel privacy can only be set during creation.
7,515 votesThank you for your feedback! The team has reviewed this request and has added it to our backlog for both Standard (Public) to Private and Private to Standard (Public) channel conversion. We will share an update as soon as it’s available.

MS Teams Meeting Delegation
For a meeting scheduled using Teams, it would be great to be able to delegate the organizer role so that someone else can reschedule the meeting during my absence. For instance for Executive Assistants or PTO.
7,150 votesThe Calendar team is working thru plans for Meeting Delegation.

Create Planner tabs within Private Channels
We have just started using Private Channels, which is great as our team has sub teams within it and this way we can have private discussions, without creating multiple teams.
What we'd also like to do is create Planner Plans within the Private Channels that are only accessible to those within the Private Channel. Is this on the roadmap?
7,135 votesThank you for your feedback. The team has this request under review. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Open in Word/Excel/PowerPoint as Default
It would be great if Teams would have the ability to always launch the desktop app when opening Office documents as opposed to launching the online version.
Rest of teams is awesome.
6,905 votesThank you for your continued feedback. The feature team is actively working on this feature as well as doing work to give users the choice to open Word/Excel/PowerPoint files by default in Browser, Office app or inside the Teams app. We will share an update here as soon as one is available.

Open links to teams in Desktop App
SITUATION: When you receive a link to a Teams file or folder, or really anything in Teams, like a Planner task - it sends you to the sharepoint site, regardless of whether you have the Desktop App installed and even if it is open.
RESOLUTION: Make links to any Teams elements open directly in the Teams Desktop App
This will save so much time and frustration from people, and also make Teams seem like a more integrated solution for everyone.
6,777 votesThe team is looking into this feature and considering solutions. We will update when there is more information to share.
-
Support hashtags in channels and DMs
Allow clickable links on #hashtagged items ... in a channel or group, perform a search within that group.
For DMs and conversations, search all of your conversations
6,742 votesThis feature is on the backlog. I will update you when we have more details to share.
-
Multiple People Screen Sharing Option
Allow multiple people to share their screen at one time, similar to how hangout does it.
6,401 votesThis feature continues to be in the backlog, we will update when we have more details to share.

Channel only members & guests
Channel only members enable collaboration with people outside the team in a specific channel, without granting them access to the team itself. The channel member could be someone in your organization, or external to your organization (guest).
6,248 votesThank you for the interest in meeting with research. All slots have been filled (in under 6 minutes).
This item remains on the backlog for now. Thanks!

Support to host a meeting in a Private Channel
Hi there, I've setup a private channel in a Team for supervisors only. I'd like to "host" the regular staff meeting in the private channel, but i can only select "public" channels. Can Microsoft add the ability to host Team meetings within a private channel?
5,671 votesThank you for your feedback. The team has this item under review. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
5,656 votesWe are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)
You can learn more about the new Microsoft Teams Public Preview program here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview, and Teams administrators can find documentation to manage which users will see the Public Preview option here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreviewAdmin

More status options, custom status, and Out of Office
MORE STATUS
I like the status options in S4B, and so does my boss. It will be important to my boss before accepting the use of MS Teams widely to have a broader range of statuses. Missing statuses are:
* In a meeting
* In a conference call
* In a call
* Presenting
* Be right back
* Off WorkParticularly of importance are "Be right back" and "off work". "Do not disturb" is probably sufficient for "in a meeting", "in a call" and "presenting". But, it sure is nice that S4B auto-detects those three statuses (for the most part).
CUSTOM STATUS
Would like to create a custom status option, such as an out-of-office message.MORE STATUS

allow any emoji as a reaction, not just thumbs up
Slack has this: get.slack.help/hc/en-us/articles/206870317-..
5,114 votesAdding any emoji as a reaction remains under review.
I am marking this as partially done to let you know a new reactions bar with Like, Heart, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Angry has begun rolling out to all users.

Change which Tab is default landing page for a Team and/or Channel
Right now the conversation tab is the default landing page for a Team and/or Channel.
I want to be able to have a SharePoint site landing page in a tab and that tab be the default tab open when you navigate to a team or channel.Think of it like a landing page for that team. You may not want it to drop right into Conversations. If you can have a SharePoint page with a Microsoft Teams conversations web part, you get the best of both worlds.
I can see a lot of scenarios where you'd want the chat window open and another tab at the same time. Rather than having to context switch. Imagine the SharePoint page tab being the way to do that by using Web Parts on a dashboard. A web part for the Microsoft Team and another web part for whatever was in another tab.Right now the conversation tab is the default landing page for a Team and/or Channel.

Integrate tasks in planner with Outlook Tasks & Calendar
Every time you create a task in planner via Microsoft Teams and assign it to someone in your organisation/team it would be nice to see that task in outlook as well. I want to know and to be alerted that I have a task assigned to me without having to lon on to Microsoft Teams.
It would be great to have a place to see how many tasks have been created in a team/channel and the status of each one.5,071 votesWe are currently testing the new Tasks app internally. We will share an update as soon as it’s available.

URL shortener for Teams
When using the "get link" option in teams it would be better to have an embedded link shortener. Pasting the link in email looks terrible.
4,706 votesWe are currently testing this feature internally, and will share an update as soon as it’s available. To learn more, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/MicrosoftTeams/sharing-files-in-teams.

Backup, export, printing, archive options
Can Teams chat and activities data be exported, printed, archived, and backed up/restored? Within Sharepoint or elsewhere? This could be necessary for a few reasons both during projects and for historical records.
4,676 votesThis item is still under review. No new updates at this time.

Read Only channel
Would like to create a Public/announcements Read Only channel so that only specified members can post. This allows for authorized personnel to make company announcements, but not everyone can post.
(The request for a Public Announcement channel is complete, since the General channel can be controlled by admins and set to read only)
4,562 votesDue to a priority shift this request has slipped to the backlog. I hate to bring bad news. I will continue to provide the feature team your feedback and votes.
Hopefully this will move back up in the queue soon.-Warren

Create Team from existing SharePoint site, and other requests
1 User Request on SharePoint:
Enable integration of Microsoft Teams to an existing SharePoint site rather than to always create a new site collection
There have been a few ideas raised on integrating lists, OneNote, document libraries, etc. from an existing SharePoint site with Microsoft Teams, but in summary, it will be best if we could create a team upon on existing site, so that the "Files" and "Notes" tabs would directly reference the existing document library and OneNote in SharePoint. It does not make sense to have two separate sites: one for all the usual SharePoint stuff, and another just for Microsoft Teams.
2: Link to Existing SharePoint Sites
Trying to link my Team up to an existing SharePoint site - only seem to be able to link to individual folders rather than the whole document library, meaning that if i want all folders on the Team i need to create multiple tabs to get this. Would be good to link to a whole document library rather than one folder.
3: Other Asks
Post Team chat to SP microfeed
Connect team sites onenote if available (replace default notes)
Add links to existing document libraries (replace default files)
Add links to existing lists
Add support for SharePoint taxonomy and managed metadata, SharePoint views etc :D1 User Request on SharePoint:
