  1. Unread message count badge support for Dock Icon for Ubuntu / Linux

Currently no badge of unread messages appears in Ubuntu in the dock, at least for me. That makes it difficult to see immediately if I have new messages without opening the app.

Badge unread counts work with other software, such as Mailspring (after renaming mailspring.desktop -> Mailspring.desktop).

  2. Use cache directory for cache

It seems that you save caches under
    ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams/Cache
    ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams/Application Cache
    ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams/Code Cache
    ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams/GPUCache

And not under ~/.cache directory (with the same paths).
As there is a designated cache directory - please use that directory. Thanks!

  4. PIV card authentication for new Linux client

    Hi,

I'm a US government employee who uses a RHEL 7.6 laptop for work. My agency recently adopted Microsoft Teams, which I've enjoyed adding to my workflow. So I was very excited to see that there's a Linux-native Teams client in development. I've been able to download and install the Linux teams client without a problem. When I enter my email address, I'm correctly redirected to my organization's login page. The problem: my organization requires me to authenticate with my PIV card, but when I attempt to do that, I get an error. I've attached screenshots of the login page…

  6. Spell check within [Microsoft Products] Teams Tabs

When using Microsoft Products within tabs on Teams, several do not have working spell check. Specifically, when filling out Microsoft Forms from within Team, the spell check is broken, despite it working within the form when viewed on the web.

  7. Deactivate Autostart on default

Please deactivate the autostart for Microsoft Teams and Skype. It is pretty annoying that applications load on start without my explicit permission and I don't find the option to deactivate this behaviour in Linux, so I have to deinstall the software.

  9. Teams under Linux should pick up the local time zone of the machine its running on.

Teams on Linux appears to pick up the UTC clock time and not the local time zone specified in the machine settings.
This causes massive confusion since all the chat and meeting times are "wrong".

  10. Linux version compatible with glibc GLIBCXX_3.4.19

Hi, CentOS 7 is equipped with libstdc++.so.6.0.19 which provides up to glibc++ 3.4.19, and the beta Teams app for this platform requires 3.4.21 (only present in CentOS 8).

Maybe you plan to provide a version compatible with CentOS 7.

    Thanks

  11. Add a setting that allows skipping the "Join conversation"/"Launching Microsoft Teams" tab by default

Every time I open a Teams link in my browser, it shows a tab that attempts to open the Teams desktop application. The "Join conversation"/"Launching Microsoft Teams" tab.

I'm on Linux, I don't have the application on my desktop, so this is pointless.

Add a setting, that would allow me to opt-out of ever seeing this tab again. I'd like the Teams link to take me directly to the Team web application.

  12. "Your microphone isn't working" randomly occurs mid-meeting

This seems to have started happening more frequently. Randomly in the middle of a meeting Teams tells me "Your microphone isn't working" and nobody can hear my audio any more. This even happens right in the middle of a sentence.

This isn't my machine (happens on multiple machines). It isn't an OS or hardware issue (Google Meet, Zoom and the Teams web app all work fine and don't do this). It only happens on the Linux version of Teams.

  14. Stop messing with the Audio and use the Systems default settings

The Audio Implementation is severely broken.

    1. Dynamically changed Audio devices, Bluetooth or USB are not detected (other mentions here about restarting pulseaudio and teams is a massive pain with 2Factor Authentication enabled)

    2. Output changes randomly

    3. unable to change volume settings for input or output within the Teams App

    and probably some more annoyances

It would be really great if Teams would just use the Default System Audio Settings by default and leave the settings alone, or integrate the system controls properly (my guess would be, that most of the users use Pulseaudio as the default)

    The Browser version is a…

  15. Ability to share a single monitor

A recent update improved screen sharing by adding the ability to share individual application windows.

However, the ability to share a single monitor seems to be broken. I only see "entire screen" which includes all of my monitors.

  16. Can't move Teams across Virtual Desktops

A KDE/Plasma application should have a little app icon on the top left corner, which you can right-click to open the "Move To Desktop" menu. From there, you can move the app to one of your Virtual Desktops (or show it on all of them). Microsoft Teams has no such icon, and therefore doesn't let the user move it to a different Virtual Desktop. Please fix this.

  17. Use Downloads as the default download location on Linux instead of Desktop

These days most desktop environments (eg Gnome) no longer show file icons on the desktop background, so downloaded files are hard to find and it looks like the download didn't work.

I know there are lots of requests to improve the download experience, especially to make the download location user-configurable, but this should be a much simpler fix, even if it is a temporary one.

BTW, great credit to Microsoft for even making a Linux desktop client. I know Electron makes it relatively easy, but it's still very welcome and shows that Microsoft really has changed! :-)

  20. Basic Features of Windows lacking in Linux based Microsoft Teams

Some basic features like Noise Cancellation , Setting virtual background for a teams meeting - and a few more basic features which are long existing on Windows based Teams is missing out on Linux based Teams Application. We would love to see the same in Linux also.
