Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
5,544 votesWe are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)
You can learn more about the new Microsoft Teams Public Preview program here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview, and Teams administrators can find documentation to manage which users will see the Public Preview option here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreviewAdmin

Improve audio notifications
VOLUME: The sound is too low!! Most people don't think it's even on. Let us customize the sound level, please.
UNIQUE SOUNDS FOR CALLS VS CHATS/MESSAGES: Right now sounds are all or nothing. This is not good. For example, you may want to have sound for Calls but not for chat or messages. There is a difference when you need to hear that someone is calling you – versus getting the constant bing/bing/bing on message chat.
UNIQUE SOUND FOR PRIVATE CHAT: It would be nice to have different sounds for private chat and notifications, so that its easy to know…
4,154 votesThe team has updated the default sound for Teams notifications so it is more noticeable. We are in final testing, with a goal to release the new sound by the end of this quarter.

Integrate with Windows 10 notification center
Use Windows 10 notification center for notifications
4,129 votesThank you for your feedback. We’re happy to announce that an option to choose between Windows 10 Native Notifications and Teams Notifications is included in our Dec 2020 Public Preview pack, and will be available to users who opt into Public Preview.

Increase duration for desktop notifications
The channel/team on which the notification has been made should stay more/better/longer visible so that you won't miss one.
2,953 votesOnce support for Windows 10 native notifications is released, users who choose to use Windows notifications will be able to utilize Windows OS specific settings for the length of time to display notifications. Mac does not have an OS specific setting, so will not have the support.

Make "Follow this channel" the default setting.
Usual Microsoft lack of UI intuition.
Channels should be followed by default with the user unfollowing it if they wish.2,927 votesThank you for the feedback. Changing the default setting is under review by the feature team, and your feedback is very useful as they are evaluating.

Automatic Mute Notifications When On Video or Audio Call
Automatically mute all Teams notifications when on a video or audio conference call. Mute all notifications that are outside the conference call itself.
1,095 votesThank you for your feedback. The team is looking into this feature and considering possible solutions. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Allow 365 Admin to Define Default Notification settings in Teams.
It would be nice to let the Domain Admin have control what the default setting are in teams.
Users can changed them but let the admins change and override with one time Reset. Like a GPO Preference. Why?
Let’s say the users are not ready for emails and Banners and users are freaking out about the number of Alerts from Teams to Outlook. The Admin could reset the setting for all users to Banner only. This would let users change it to email and banner, but the admin could find a setting that works best for the company of users.1,013 votes -
Customize Sound Notification
The sound you updated to during the week of March 6 is HORRIBLE. Please give us an option to change sounds for chat notifications the same way we can change sounds for the phone calls

Persistent notification
I'm using Mac and one annoying thing is that I'm not getting notified of new messages in team channels (whether I'm mentioned or not) because I missed the banner in the top right of the screen, either from being away from my desk or focusing on my second screen. The red icon is added to the actual application icon in the dock menu when I get a direct chat but there should be something here to indicate that team chats have new messages

Include notifications based on keywords.
We need to get notifications based on keywords. For example: I am a subject matter expert for SAP and I like to know when SAP is typed into a channel so I can offer assistance.

Separate Notification Sounds Settings for Calls and Chats
“Notification sounds = Off” will disable all sound notifications, including disabling the Call notifications. What I’d like to do is to disable Mention and Chat notification sounds for example, but keep Call notification sounds. This can't be done at the moment as only 3 options are available:
All
Call, mention and chat
Off
We would need additional options to cover all use cases.

Microsoft Teams download banner / popup needs to be removed
When a user in the Office 365 environment wants to use the web version http://teams.microsoft.com, a popup message is visible at the upper area with a prompt to install the client version:
“Want an even faster, more collaborative experience? Download the desktop app.” By several given security compliance requirements in big IT environments, the users shouldn’t be able to install any additional software at their PCs. This popup is confusing the web-only Teams user and also it makes the software deployment team nervous.609 votes -
Allow us to turn of flashing taskbar notifications
Flashing taskbar notifications are a bit annoying, and it would be nice to have the option to turn off that flashing (while keeping popup notifications enabled).

Tag Teammates in Planner Cards & Push Notifications
It would be really helpful to add more ways to notify teammates on through planner:
-Tag teammates in Planner Card comments
-Push notifications for mobile when mentioned in such tags.545 votes -
Respect Focus Assist
Teams should respect Windows Focus Assist settings. I'm not even sure how apps are allowed to override Windows settings like this.
I put Windows Focus Assist into Alarms Only mode so I could record screen captures and I Teams kept popping up notifications over my application. I had to completely exit Teams so I could finish my task.434 votes -
Scheduled Do Not Disturb, like Slack
Do Not Disturb should block all notifications and I'd love to be able to schedule DND, like on Slack

Banner notification on second monitor
I, and many of my colleagues, do many presentations using screen sharing to potential customers. I share my primary monitor to the customer, but the second monitor is offstage. It would be most helpful to have a setting of where the banner notifications appear (on which screen/monitor). I like getting the notifications, but I need them to show up "offstage" instead of on my primary monitor.

Browser/OS independent desktop notifications using HTML5
Not sure about the desktop clients because there isn't one available for my operating system. However, the web app is essentially unfit for purpose because I can't tell when anyone is trying to contact me unless I sit there, constantly staring at the app.

Missed calls in Microsoft Teams should trigger email to Outlook
I have checked with Microsoft Premier Support and they have confirmed that users will only get notification for missed calls in the Teams app. Email notification is only for the missed messages in Teams, and this is the expected behavior.
But I found it strange why only calls are being excluded from email notification? Isn’t calls more important than message as people can always send email as alternative to chat?
Furthermore, Team’s setting is called “Missed activity emails”, which the missed calls fall under, this is very confusing to users.
Please include missed calls in email notification!

Allow Webhooks Extensions to @mention individuals and channels
The JSON payload used for formatting MS Teams notifications via a Webhooks Extension should allow @mentions to be constructed.
Similar to how a bot can construct a mention in it's response via <at>@General</at>.
Without this functionality, there's no way for members of a channel to be notified by the Webhooks Extension without having to first follow the channel.
In most real world scenarios, following a channel will not suffice — leading to spam and distractions for the team.
For many, the absence of this capability is preventing the transition from Slack to Teams.
