  2. Azure RMS/AIP Integration

Allow integration with Azure RMS/AIP via Teams. Ideally, users could enable this per Team (as they see fit) and it would encrypt and protect the files, chats, etc. inside of that Team (which would enable the IRM feature in SharePoint, OneDrive, etc. behind the scenes and enforce RMS upon download of the files).

  3. End to end encryption

End to end encryption so that chats are secure and private. Obviously only enabled under certain circumstances and for certain groups/users but it is necessary for sensitive discussions around legal or security matters, ie sharing passwords.

  4. Acknowledge exceptions for third party cookies instead of demanding a huge security hole!

I tried Chrome, IE 11, and Edge (don't get me started on the Edge issues!) and all required that third party cookies be fully enabled. It would not acknowledge an exception for all teams.microsoft.com addresses.

IE 11 is riddled with script errors and it prevents the download of the desktop app.

  5. Password Protection on folders and files within individual teams

While we have multiple different members on individual teams, we have several different folders and individual files that we would like to be able to protect with passwords so that not all members of teams are able to view them without having to create new teams only for those specific folders and files. While we are able to password protect individual files before they are uploaded, it is difficult to do this for folders and will also require time to re-upload files that are already on our team sites.

Being able to place password protection on our existing folders and…

  6. Private conversation inside a Public conversation

Looking to use Teams as an internal Crowdsourcing initiative.

Is there any possibility to switch from a Public conversation (meaning that the conversation under the channel is visible to all the members of that particular group) to a Private conversation (meaning that only 2 people will be able to see it and it will be hidden for the other members)?

This should apply no matter if the users are internal or guest/external.

    Thanks,
    Stefano

  7. Create different permissions for different group members

In Teams, I have set up a group with 3 channels. I have files saved to specific tabs in each channel and would like for some members of the team who are not active participants to not be able to edit files posted a variety of channels. Can I not give some group members of the team limited permissions rather than a full-fledged read/write permissions?

  8. Backups, Archiving and History for Legal Compliance

If we use MS Teams for firm wide chat, it is vital that all chat, for infinite history, is stored and recoverable, easily, for legal compliance reasons.

For example, we close a project on which we used MS Teams to discuss and work on together as a firm. We close that project. A year later we enter into litigation for that project. We then need to recall and show proof of conversations regarding that project, and the MS Team chat/channel conversations.

What functionality exists for this in MS Teams?

How do we do the recall if available?

    AND How long…

we have this!  ·  Suphatra responded

Hi everyone — here’s some clarity on our legal compliance.

As of now, Chat history for a Team is stored infinitely and available for eDiscovery/Content Search. So, the answer to your question depends on what you mean by closing the project. If you close the project, but don’t kill the Office 365 Group/Team associated with, everything should be still searchable. You should be able to recall/search for all chat activity that happened within the Team by scoping your compliance content search to the appropriate group mailboxes. The data is not lost.

Please let me know if you have any other questions! You can post a message here or tweet me @skprufo.

    Thanks,
    Suphatra

  9. Add moderated public team (request to join) as an option besides public and private

It would be good to have a third option when creating a team besides 'private' and 'public'.
Private means member editor access only, but also makes the team not discoverable for interested people who are not a member, and then could request to join.
Public means the team and it's content is open to anyone on the tenant.
For organisations with specific BU's who would like to be discoverable for non-team membersb(thus needs to be public), but only allow memership (join) after a request (moderated membership).
There could actually be 2 types of moderated teams:
    1. Public and moderated where…

  11. Ability to see Private Teams & Request to Join

Will there be an ability to see all Public and Private teams in your environment? And then you can request to join a Private team and an Owner can approve / reject the request to join the private team?

  12. Allow permissions to channels only within a team

Could you create a way for permissions to be set for users to contribute to selected channels within a team. We have a team created where we want certain people to only have access to certain channels. Currently you can only set permissions to the team itself.

  13. Option to not save 1:1 chat history.

It is sometimes a strict business requirement that 1:1 chat history not be saved. We need to be able to set, by policy, an option to not allow the saving of chat history for 1:1 IM conversations. The new retention policies are a start, but do not go far enough in addressing this requirement. If I missed something and this is possible in PowerShell somehow, then I apologize, but this is a critical business requirement.

  14. Profanity filters in Teams

I see there are content filters for GIPH images but not for text, looking for something that can filter profanity from conversations.

  15. Securty Issue - Add a TouchID (fingerprint) / PIN Code lock for the app

Currently the application will not ask for credentials after the initial sign-in (even if the user signs out via options, clears cache or even reinstalls the app).
The only thing needed in order to gain access to the app is the email address of the user (which is relatively easy to find elsewhere on the device when not locked).
Pretty much all other applications will allow the user to add a touchID or PIN authentication to further secure the app (Outlook, OneDrive, SFB, etc.)

While the app leverages the authentication token used by all other apps on the device, this…

  16. Allow us to build custom Calling Policies in MS Teams

Currently its only possible to use the default MS Team pollicies for Calling (AllowCalling, DisallowCalling, AllowCallingPreventTollBypass, AllowCallingPreventForwardingtoPhone) however we would like to create out own. For example we would like to allow the calling but prevent to call a whole group. We have some users who miss use this feature and made a lot of our users unhappy. We tried to fix that via an education but a lot of users still do not understand that feature, so we would like to control that via fine grained Policy.

  17. Compliance

Teams needs to be able to journal messages for compliance. The internal compliance is weak and does not meet the requirements for any regulated financial company. We are Sunsetting teams for all of our pilot group despite users loving it because we just could not make it pass compliance muster..

  18. Group Chat: Make it possible for new participants to see previously shared files

New participants to a group chat can't see files, via the Files tab, that were shared before they joined the chat. This is true even if you give them file access via OneDrive/SharePoint.

Workaround: Remove all files and share them again (ouch).

This seemed like a clear bug, but after consideration, I believe the behavior is intentional and a solution complicated/controversial.

Since a shared file (files are shared in a group chat, not uploaded) is still owned by the person who shared it, if Teams automatically gave access to new participants, then Person A could share a file, Person B could…

  19. Sign in after password change is broken

My 365 password changed today. The Windows Teams app says "your password was changed. Please sign in again"

I click on the "Sign in" button, but all that does is restart Teams and the same message appears again

  20. unable to authenticate through browser pop

I am seeing a bug with the Teams’ desktop application (Windows and Mac) that doesn't support advanced security for user authentication.

When using the Teams’ desktop client the tab is unable to complete the authentication which pops a browser window to authenticate the user. The Teams’ web client pops the authentication window and authenticates the Teams’ tab user as expected.

The use case that triggered this: Trying to add a published Smartsheet to a tab in my Teams channel with the Smartsheet sheet publish option "Only available to users in owner's account" enabled.
