Make Teams Compatible with the Apple M1 Processor
II can download the app, but can’t launch it. There is not an option to run the app in Rosetta mode.
Ridiculous I must say... Giant company MS takes more than 1 year and counting to do this

We need native support for M1!!! The Rosetta 2 version is laggy and buggy. Can't wait to see native version of MS team.

Badly need this. Current teams application is exceptionally slow and sluggish.

The biggest problem with x64 apps is battery draining and overheat...!
I find myself often open Teams only when needed, and terminate it ASAP...!
Without a timeline, maybe provide us a report on the status...?

I want Teams for Apple Silicon M1

As a previous commenter suggested that this is not happening due to the move away from Electron— I would urge you to reconsider the decision to let this issue wait till fall 2022. It's completely justified to delay on some issues for a larger vision, but this could be untenable for so many users in the meantime!

Microsoft can easily do this by updating Electron. The reason they haven't done so already is that they are moving away from Electron and going for Webview2 instead: https://tomtalks.blog/2021/06/microsoft-teams-2-0-will-use-half-the-memory-dropping-electron-for-edge-webview2/
Problem is that Webview2 isn't released for Mac yet and it probably won't be for another year: https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/WebView2Feedback/issues/645#issuecomment-921551618
That's why I'd go for another solution: making it a web app via Edge for Mac (which does has M1 support). It sucks, but it's better than emulating it for a full year.
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE. OPTIMIZE TEAMS and ONEDRIVE for Apple Silicon please please !!!!
I want to see Teams running natively on m1 Macs
