Teams pop-up notifications no longer display on top of (fullscreen) applications
Since a recent change in Teams notifications no longer display on top when working in fullscreen mode. Most collegues work with a Remote Desktop client. Teams they run in the background on their local machine.
When you would receive a message or a call Teams would pop-up a notification on top of the RD-client. Since a recent update this no longer happens. You have to minimize te RD-client and other applications that run on your local machine, because they all show on top of the Notification.
I think this is caused by an update where Teams notifications now are using the built in Windows 10 notifications framework. I can't find any setting to make notifications show on top when working in fullscreen mode.
Thank you for your patience. We are happy to share that this issue has been fixed with Windows desktop version 1.4.00.7174 and above.

Version 1.4.00.8251 works
A new build was spotted in the wild, 1.4.00.10658, which was released on 4/16/2021, and can be downloaded from https://statics.teams.cdn.office.net/production-windows-x64/1.4.00.10658/Teams_windows_x64.exe
I actually managed to grab this particular build from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ItzLevvie/MicrosoftTeams-msinternal/master/defconfig, and the builds list is seemingly updated every day or so.
Working in v1.4.00.7573 - released 03/16/2021
Can you please not break it again in the next version!?!
1.4.00.4167 has this issue
Can I add my frustration to this long list of users who are missing critical notifications by electing to buy Microsoft Applications. This issue is critical to over 80 of my users and you seem to think it's OK to get to it when you are bothered!
As a paying customer (with 85 Microsoft E3 licences), I demand an immediate response with a date that the issue will be fixed.
Actually I did further testing and I find that the most recent versions of Teams for Windows X64 are displaying notifications OK when using full screen REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION:
1.4.00.65531 released 2021.03.04 works OK
1.4.00.6862 released 2021.03.09 works OK
It's strange that the bug was fixed in the 1.4.00.914 released 2021.01.09 but then the bug was reintroduced in versions 1.4.00.3484 released 2021.02.05 and 1.4.00.4167 released 2021.02.10
Version 1.4.00.65531 released on 2021.03.04 also has the notification bug.
Our office was having a Teams_windows_x64 problem ... if using REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION in full screen mode the Teams inbound call notification would not be display on top of the REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION window. To answer calls it was necessary to minimize the REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION window to see the notification window.
Teams_windows_x64 1.3.00.30866 released 2020.11.03 had this notification bug
Teams_windows_x64 1.4.00.914 released on 2021.01.09 FIXED THE NOTIFICATION BUG!! YEAH!!! THANK YOU!!
Teams_windows_x64 1.4.00.3484 released 2021.02.05 reintroduced the bug.
Teams_windows_x64 1.4.00.4167 released 2021.02.10 also has the notification bug.
Teams_windows_x64 1.4.00.6862 released 2021.03.09 also has the notification bug.
Is there an official update on when it will be fixed?
Every time it starts working on a version that other users identify on this thread, I inform my end users to update to it and they are then happy.. until you auto update to a broken version!
If you have managed to fix it in a previous build, can't that piece of code be protected from being broken in the next build? - it shouldn't be difficult as you already know how to fix it! - please stop breaking it!!!
Newest Version (https://statics.teams.cdn.office.net/production-windows-x64/1.4.00.65531/Teams_windows_x64.exe) works again
You can get users to use the keyboard shortcuts - either CTRL-SHIFT-A (answer video) or CTRL-SHIFT-S (answer voice) to answer incoming calls when Teams is in the background - then minimise the VDI/RDP and go to the Teams window - definitely not idea. By the way, unless I misread it, I think the fix to this is meant to be in the March release
This is a massive PITA and needs to be resolved ASAP.
To those affected I have found a (cumbersome) way to allow you to answer the call. If you minimize the RDP window and Alt+Tab on your local PC, you will see the Popup in the available windows. You can then click this and answer the call, you just need to be quick before it stops!
Still having this problem in Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.4167 (64-bit)

I am working on RD-client in full screen, Teams is opened in local Windows desktop. When someone called me in Teams, I can hear the tone, but there is no notification. Even when i minimize the RD-client, I still cannot find the notification to pick the call.
Please can we get an update on this? We're about to deploy Teams and this has a large bearing on the training burden

this needs fixed, lots of users mising calls
After I automatically received the version 1.4.00.4167 yesterday, the notification no longer works. This is the third time that Microsoft manages to break it with an update. This borders on wantonness.
Our users are finding it very frustrating (especially at this time with remote working!) that they are missing calls/messages when they are using RDP full screen.
