MacOS - Allow Sony Webcam as Device
Sony has released software that allows you to turn any Sony camera into a webcam called "Imaging Edge Webcam."
At this point, Zoom, Skype and other online video software recognizes the Sony cameras, but Teams does not (since it is not in the device list). It would be great to have Sony webcams (audio and video) available in the device settings on MacOS.
Hope you can look into this for an upcoming release. If you're already working on it, please let us know! Thanks.
It seems that MS still haven't fixed that issue.
Luckily I finally found a guide to a solution that works like a charm:
Please be aware that one has to repeat that procedure after every software update of MS Teams.
I hope this helps you as well!

Would be really nice if Mircosoft would fix this issue and some others in Teams.
Everytime a client mentions they use Microsoft Teams, rather than Zoom or one of the others, always let out a sigh since the software is always so problematic and most importantly not working with Sony Web Cams unless I use a 4K Cam Link, and one of the bonuses of new usb-c camera is being able to transfer files, charge, and web cam all with a single cable. Yes, it works on Mac in Chrome, but no in Safari and not in most importantly the Mac app.

This is definitely an issue. I have verified:
1. The exact same configuration works fine in Windows 10 - the Sony Webcam (Imaging Edge) shows up as a device.
2. On OS X Big Sur 11.2.2 on Intel, the Zoom client lets me select the Sony Webcam (Imaging Edge)
3. On OS X Big Sur 11.2.2 on Intel, Teams does not. My Elgato Camlink 4K does show up and I used to use this as an option for Mac.
I can use the Camlink 4K option for now, but I'd like to repurpose it permanently for something else - this means I need to keep swapping cables for my other (streaming) scenario which is inconvenient. For others on this thread though, this is completely blocking them.
For others, I can recommend the Elgato Camlink 4K USB dongle and using the HDMI out on your camera. But that will require you to spend money (~ $120 but at least that's an option today unlike earlier in pandemic).
+1 Please fix this issue.
Are we getting any closer?

Come on guys... Fix this for Sony cameras. Big meeting on Wednesday and I want my best web cam working. Otherwise I'll be suggesting different visual meeting facility than MSTeams, and putting the word out to others on the Sony forums... MSTeams doesn't play nice with Sony cams. No reason for this.
+1 please!!!!!!!! Same issue.
+1. I'm using Mac OS Big Sur. Sony web cam works with Zoom, Chrome, but doesn't work with MS Teams.
+1 please fix this
So frustrating, works like a charm with Zoom and OBS on my mac. I use the Sony A7 R M3.
I Have tried to reinstall teams, re-installed Sony software. Nothing.
My Insta 360 R works fine but I want studio quality with my Sony.
Fix ASAP please

Agree. I always wonder why Teams did not follow the standards like every single other applications out there.
Please fix the app to allow using standard webcam softwares.

I agree, please make this available in the Microsoft Teams Appon Mac. It's frustrating and shouldn't be a big deal to implement.
Thanks for the 'works in browser' tip, at least it's something, Hope they fix it in the native macos app too.
