screen sharing on wayland
Screen sharing on wayland is not yet supported. The teams app crashes and restarts.
See this issue on the electron app https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/23063
Screen Sharing works on unofficial electron app and in-browser in google chrome. step your game up microsoft and please implement wayland :)
How can you name it "Teams" when not everyone in the team has the same collaborative features? Get the Wayland support going, and, while you're at it, fix the laser pointer not showing too.
Please implement wayland support

Still no screen sharing option with the latest Teams client on Fedora 34 (Xwayland 21.1.2). Is there an MS Teams beta in the works we can try?

In the meantime, there is a solution... Not perfect, but it works.
You need to download and install Chrome BETA for Linux. Then, use the web browser version of teams.
In chrome://flags/ you need to enable WebRTC PipeWire support
Restart Chrome and it will work...
1) it works always the second time when you want to share either one of your screens or a single window.. Not funny, because you need to have the "brilliant idea" to try a second time... Weird.
2) the size of what you share is ok ONLY when you share your content on a non HiDPI screen, meaning that on THIS screen, the fractional scaling must be 100%
3) When sharing your screen, your video is automatically disable and you need to manually re-enable it when you stop to share your screen.
So, yeah, it works...
Hope they will really address all of this in the near future. In the meantime, at least, there is a solution.

please fix this, its a pity that its not possible to share screens in teams meeting with wayland :(
i share screens in teams normally a few times a day
Electron 12.x supports Wayland, here's hoping MS will upgrade the Linux Teams app to be based on that or newer.
Please please please add screen sharing when using Wayland.
Please add Wayland screen sharing support. A much needed feature!
Looking forward to seeing this fixed. I would love it if we at least knew whether or not the MS team is working on this actively. Thanks!
VSCode (also from Microsoft) already supports Wayland natively with the latest Beta release. I wonder what is stopping Microsoft from upgrading their Electron version on Microsoft Teams... Really a shame that it takes sooo long

When could we expect MS Teams to be built on top of Electron 12.x in order to support Wayland ?
Is there any place we could check MS Teams dev timeline ?

The latest information is that the support is already there on the side of Electron: https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/29115#issuecomment-840071961
However, Teams needs to be built with the latest version of Electron which is 12.x.y.
Currently, it is built with Electron 8.5.5 which is no longer supported: https://www.electronjs.org/docs/tutorial/support#currently-supported-versions .
Please, use the last version of Electron so to enable screen sharing on Wayland.
