Teams meeting lobby - allow "selected people" to bypass lobby
With the new "Only me" option for bypassing the lobby, this puts huge onus on organisers who might not normally expect to attend a meeting but where the meeting has a requirement to hold particpants int eh lobby.
For example ...
Person A sets up a MS Teams meeting that we will use to teach a random group of students about a topic. Person A sets the lobby to "only me" and invites person B as a "presenter". They also invite 100 random students.
On the delivery day Person A arrives and admits person B from the lobby shortly before the start time to complete set up and do final checks. They then admit the student attendees - that's perfect
Imagine that on the delivery day Person A is off sick. Person B is now stuck outside in the lobby with all the students and nobody can access the room (nightmare!)
Currently there is no way person B can access the room from the lobby if Person A is not available for any reason?
So - the request is that in the "bypass lobby" settings please set "specific people" just like we can set specific people to be a presenter, so that specific people can then bypass the lobby and do their set up even if the organiser is not available.
Thank you for your feedback. We have added the option to allow only users who were invited to the meeting to bypass the lobby. To learn more, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/change-participant-settings-for-a-teams-meeting-53261366-dbd5-45f9-aae9-a70e6354f88e.
We look forward to adding other improvements discussed in the comments in the future.

1. Please have an option to
annouce by playing a tone when a student enters/exits during bypass (not just a "caller")
2. Please have an option for the admin/designated people to start the meeting, then everyone else can bypass. This is how I'd like to do bellwork. I open the meeting. Kids show on time knowing they only get the first 5 mins for bellwork. I then begin class after 5 mins. *not having to admit one by one or sitting there staring at my screen. * also only teacher (or selected people) can start the meeting. (Right now kids are in the meeting before me on the bypass thing).
3. When trying to invite and there's multiple same names, please allow to me scroll to pick the correct person. (Currently the list blocks what I'm typing and then won't let me get to the correct person when trying to scroll- limited scrolling- can't see full list)
Thanks SO much
Please allow two teachers to be co-originators of a TEAM meeting.
This would be absolutely fantastic for teachers.
I wish the chat could be activated by voice for the teacher only.
This would be a great feature! I was absent one day and my co-teacher had to create a separate meeting so that the kids could join. It would be very beneficial if either of us could start a meeting in our math link.

A related alternative might be to allow other owners of a Team to bypass the lobby and start meetings in that Team. Either way, we must have a way for someone other the meeting's organizer to be designated to start meetings in the organizer's absence.

In the school context, this is a MUST HAVE.
We need to be able to let at least some colleagues bypass the lobby for class meetings without opening that option up to every student in the school district. The current all or nothing (only meeting organizer) options are drastically insufficient.
As a teacher who shares 2 classes with another teacher, this would be amazingly helpful! We work with younger children so setting up extra meeting links is not an option. We both need to have all of the same controls in one meeting link.

This change is needed!
Yes! I just wrapped up a trimester with a student teacher and it would have been very helpful for her to have the ability to start a meeting in Teams.

YES! This would be helpful for subs and co-teaching
Agree that a co teacher should be able to by pass the lobby if they are considered another presenter in the meeting it should just be automatic especially if one teacher has a connection issue and can't get on then the other teacher should be able to get in and get started for the day.
Very critical to instruction
Co-teachers need to be able to bypass the lobby to get the class started if the teacher who is the organizer is absent.
Definitely need this feature. So frustrating to have to manually admit and make my co-teacher a presenter at the start of every meeting. Plus, if I'm running late or am absent, it would be nice for someone else to be able to start the meeting.
We were told to allow students access to bypass the lobby. The problem is there is no clue (bell/ding) that lets me know when they have arrived. This is an issue when attendance is to be taken every period.

There should be a feature to allow for specific people to be able to bypass the lobby
"This is a crucial requirement to allow another teacher access by bypassing the lobby. For example, if a teacher loses their internet connection -another teacher would need to step in. There should be an option to add a specific teacher who can bypass without everybody in the Organization being able to do so."
This is a prime example of why this feature would be great. I can see why it would be risky in some situations, as there could be unwanted visitors with that 'everyone' setting; but some teachers already do that when they're permitting guests into their room. The benefits outweigh the negatives of interrupted conferences.
