Suppress Meeting Notification Until Meeting Start Time
Often, someone joins a meeting a few minutes early causing notifications on every other user to immediately join. This causes meetings to actually start earlier than scheduled due to everyone showing up due to the notification. As well, once the 'meeting started' notification goes away, a new notification does not fire at the actual start time of the meeting which can cause someone to end up being late if they can't be early (another meeting for example).
Ask: Have a toggle/setting to have meeting notifications fire at meeting start time vs. first meeting participant. Alternatively, have all notifications fire at meeting start time vs. before since meetings shouldn't begin before scheduled time anyways.
Yes - this would be great to have!

VERY good human factors request. This would take into account how people setup and start meetings. Not just the tech.

Yes, Yes, Yes! Meeting organizers need/like to 'set up shop' before attendees start joining. Having this kind of option would be great. I might also suggest a sub-toggle option that prevents all but the organizer(s) from entering the meeting until it starts. Again, this to allow organizers to set up shop prior to the meeting start/attendee arrival.
Agree with all the comments on the pressure to join early phenomena and a huge drawback for organizers of events who need to meet a little early to discuss logistics. Please implement.
How does this only have 183 votes? This is a must have!
Maybe already clear, but it's crucial that this is controllable from the meeting organizer end, not the participant/invitee end
Oh the PM's that start meetings 15 minutes early.
How about just pop up at the SCHEDULED START TIME of the meeting, and MOST DEFINITELY - dont pop up after the meeting has ENDED and some random comes in late and again alerts (and again, and again, and again..)

That would be great
I agree, the option to suppress this notification is needed.
If you are the organizer and join the meeting before the REMINDER TIME set up on the meeting, no notification as "*** has started the meeting" will be triggered. But If you join the meeting at the reminder time or anytime before the meeting starts, every participant will receive a notification that the meeting has started. Hope this helps.

With the new breakout room functionality this IMO, is crucial. Especially if we cannot build breakout rooms before meeting start using the attendee list

This is critical in my opinion
This is a must have functionality.

This seems to be a user experience bug. It changes user behavior - people feel pressured to join if the meeting has already started so they don't miss any conversations. And those that cannot join early as they are finishing their previous meeting, do miss conversations.
Meeting Started notification should never pop up before meeting start time.
Nice-to-have: have a 'waiting room' for those that join early, and admit them into a meeting only at meeting start time.
Abosolutely critical. I need to log in early and test before a large meeting or webinar. I don't want the entire list to get notifications while I'm testing!

Does anyone know what the threshold time is that the "meeting has started" popup occurs?
For example, if I join a meeting 3 days early, I don't think people get the notification that the meeting has started. But if I join it 5 minutes early, they do. So what is that pre-meeting start time threshold for notifying/not notifying attendees?
There are also cases where as a meeting organizer, there are aspects of the meeting that need to be prepared a little early, or there needs to be a smaller pre-meeting organization and this notification choice would help with those situations.
If you're not early then you're late! Hello?

This would be ideal for our educational programs!
