Enable marking of assignments in PDF and not just microsoft word.
During the covid-19 outbreak many academics needed to be able to mark mathematical or engineering papers online. One of the current problems in say Blackboard (used a lot in education) is that you cannot write directly on a script like you would on pen and paper. Even in some circumstances when you can, only the mouse is enabled and a Surface pro pen cannot be used. Also you have to send the script back to the student somehow which takes a lot of time and extra effort. At present in Teams I can mark a Microsoft word document using the DRAW tab (and a surface pro or Wacom pen) and send it back all in a few actions - it is very well set out. All I need is the added option of doing this to a PDF file. The new Microsoft edge enables me to write on PDFs of course but it's not linked with the data-base so I can return it to the student in one click (unlike a Word file). This would be a great addition and put Teams way ahead in online marking. A few more complicated things you may want to think about are these: The ability to put in a database of questions and for a random selection to be presented to the student and secondly the means for the student to select any time to start a test (for a fixed time) within a few days. For example the test could be 2 hours and you get 3 days - start anytime within that 3 days and questions are randomised. A solution sheet would also need to be given to markers for said random questions.
