Disable pop out chat for teams
Teams implemented a "pop out chat" feature, and I cannot stand it. I accidentally open pop-out chats all the time, and I do not want them. I actually like all my chats being in the tabs they were. Can you please implement a setting to disable this? I understand there are people who want it, but for those that do not is it that bad to have a setting to disable it?
Ditto original comments.
Also with the new pop-up window does not have all the same capabilities as the base window and/or or it's much more difficult to perform tasks such as drag & drop in new guests to an existing chat, etc.
If MS wants to crush Zoom and all other competitors then they need to quit making stupid decisions on how to make things "better" a disease called featuritis. All these new features coming back to back should be optional.
Watch what Zoom does and then make what they offer even better, not only in optional features but also security.
Another example, currently the limit for meeting attendees is 300, that needs to be fixed for large organizations. Why should we have to go outside the MS universe to yet another 3rd party service?
Please put the option to turn this feature off back into the setup. Most of our meetings are voice-only and don't use the chat. This just gets in the way more than it helps.
This feature is just plain bad, It has made team far more unproductive, it now takes me ten times longer to answer a incoming calls, the popup windows comes up behind all my other windows, including my Remote Desktop. This means I need to search for it, instead of the it appearing Teams app window that I have pined to stay in on top, this is horrible! Stop forcing your terrible concepts on your costomers without options.

Looks like this will be a "Will Not Fix" - oh well.
From the bottom:
"What if I don’t turn the new experience on?
We’d love for you to try it out. We’re making it available in this way partly because in the near future, we’ll turn the experience on by default. Eventually, the setting to turn it on and off will go away. At that time, the experience of meetings in separate windows, with the meeting controls at the top, will become the norm. So we want you to have ample time to get familiar with it."
I concur with the above sentiment. I am working remotely. I have 4 screens and finding the pop out is a nightmare.
What idiot programmer or manager even thought this was a good idea.
Bring back the option to turn it off.!!!%%$£%^&*
i can't tell you how much this change to forced pop-out windows has had on my productivity at the Fortune 200 I work at.
i have great leverage on what productivity tools we bring and collaboration is huge with the remote working arrangements due to the virus.
this simple removal of a feature has impacted many folks i work with and the feedback is bad.
please add this back in. we're going to start shopping for a replacement for the 18,000 folks who use this as part of an enterprise license.
Yes, it is a terrible feature to have no control over it. I personally hate the pop-out window when joining a meeting or call and I would like to see an option added so that people can then CHOOSE whether they want that feature enabled or disabled. Thanks.
This is literally one of the worst "features" implemented into Teams! Someone might like it, but why to take away options for turning that off? Please be so kind and give that option again, right now Teams have moved from nice communication tool category to hearth attack high risk tool...

Perhaps complaining here too will help?

WHY WHY WHY! At least give me the option to choose. I absolutely HATE that my calls and meeting open in a new window.

The option to turn off the new meeting experience has been removed. MS seems to know best what's good for us. Patronising users is something all vendors of operating systems seem to take pride in...
Please bring this option back.

Would be nice to have the same feature like in Skype with tabed chat conversation to close all chat at the same time

"Turn on new meeting experience" is enabled by default now, which pops out the chat window. I prefer this feature to be provided & let the user chose it whether to be enabled or disabled. I prefer it to be disabled.
Let the feature be user friendly. I actually like all my chats being in the tabs they were. Moreover while in meeting, if there's a chat in parallel, the older feature would still show the presentation with the minimized window, which is not there now. Really frustrating.
I can see a purpose for the pop out chat window, however, it's too easy to accidentally pop out a chat window you did not intend to do. Please at least fix it so double clicking doesn't pop the chat windows out. Thanks!
I hate this feature with a passion. I have been sending more emails than chat just to avoid it. My question is, why make a feature like this without a way to disable it???????

I also find no value in the popout experience. I would like to have a way to disable it for Chats. It's quite irritating and unnecessary. If not disable it, hide it in the ... or somehow make it more explicit then just a button that appears when I hover over a chat conversation.

This "feature" is terrible. I would love a way to dis-able it. If I receive a message from someone else and I respond, it has sometimes put my current meeting on hold, or I lose it behind other meetings or conversations. Especially frustrating if someone is making a presentation. I gain absolutely no benefit from having a pop up window, and all the annoyance of trying to get back to original window.
I do not like the way to access the meeting notes has been made difficult. Please give us the simplicity back.

I also do not like this feature for the meetings as well. When I click Meeting Notes, it takes me away from our meeting window and back into Teams and I lose the ability to still see who I am meeting with.
