Please make it so that I can pop out a channel conversation just like I can with a chat. It's infuriating I can't do it!
I agree that we need the ability to have multiple Teams and channels open at the same time. I have numerous Teams created at my work for a number of projects and have to cross-reference documents in different Teams and Channels. The inability to pop these out or work in several documents at once without having to leave what I am currently working on is extremely cumbersome and makes it hard to multitask.
I'm currently using only one channel, but am constantly responding to multiple chats. If I could pop out the channel I wouldn't keep having to navigate back to the file in the channel, after every time I go to answer a chat (which is every 5 mins or more).
I've started using the web version to access the channel, and the desktop version for everything else - which is silly when a pop-out would solve the issue.
We are trying to use Teams now instead of OneDrive sync to access our Sharepoint files due to many issues, however, if we can't popout a Channel (that has the SharePoint libraries on them) every time I go and reply to a chat, I've lost what I had open (we have multi-folders for filing).
if we work on multiple channels having them popout like we can with a browser window or File Explorer window will engage our users more to use Teams.
Yes, Functionality in the channels is severely limited by not being able to break out channels into their own windows!
Does Microsoft think we only use one channel at a time? Come on! This is for business, multiple events can be occurring at the same time.
Stop making us constantly have to click everywhere and lose our places, instead of having multiple windows open!
In addition, channel can than be used to have a personal space of tabs, containing important personal stuff such as core websites/online tools, etc.

The biggest reason we do not use the Teams/Channels feature is because it lacks pop out, which some of my users absolutely "require".

When you are trying to focus on a specific chat thread within a Teams Channel, it is frustrating that new comments in other chat threads will cause the specific chat thread you are in to get lost in the sea of chats in that Teams channel. The ability to pop-out an individual chat thread from within that Teams channel so you can remained focused on it until it is complete and then simply pop it back into the Teams channel would be very helpful.

It's a pain when you are looking through a channel for information, someone pings you via chat, and then you lose your place. It's a waste of time to have to scroll back through it all.
I agree with the comment below that this feature seems incomplete as we can pop out chat windows but not team room/channels
use-case1: I want to refer to a channel thread in another
use-case2: I need to have two current channel discussions open to collate distinct information
use-case3: from my channel search, the channel thread has a link to another
it is onerous having to flip back and forth and then re-find
This would be very useful and should be relatively simple to implement since the functionality exists with chats already.

Yes please! Since switching to Microsoft Teams, I've started using this single application for file management/sharing, hosting and attending meetings, and chatting with coworkers.
Several times every day, I need to access multiple channels while simultaneously sharing my screen during a meeting. Popping out channels and channel tabs (similar to how the Windows OS lets you have multiple File Explorers open simultaneously) would significantly improve my experience with Teams.
Yeah the pop out chat feature is useful but Teams is still incomplete from a user experience point of view if channels can't be popped out as well.
I'd also like the ability to pop out channel tabs as well. It's quite annoying to have to flip back and forth between channel tabs and the main channel page.
