It is sorely, sorely needed. It's impossible to come back to a channel discussion 3 hours later to close a loop if you can't pop it out like a chat. I end up having to write the channel name on a post it to be able to get back to conversations. It's ridiculous!!

How is this not implemented yet, it's obviously a good idea.
As mentioned in the comments in addition to being able to pop out a channel, it would also be nice if you could pop out a specific thread inside a channel.

This would be a wonderful idea. Pop out function would make it so much easier to monitor situations as they arise.

The ability to pop out a channel just like you can do for a chat would be great. This would allow for multiple chats to be happening in different channels for different teams and you wouldn't have to switch between them you can just read them all as they come in. I use multiple desktops on multiple monitors and have one dedicated just to teams. It would be very nice to be able to see the conversations happening in real time in more than one channel/team.
Additionally if I am working in a Wiki (especially for a wiki since there's no "desktop app" for that), a document, or a team notebook within a channel it would be nice to be able to pop it out so I can continue to chat in other channels. (...or to pop those channels out so I can keep the wiki open in the "main teams window".)

I'm in the middle of installing a VM just to monitor a channel discussion. :(

It is difficult to navigate from one team to the other when trying to work within a meeting setting. The pop out function would be appreciated!

This would great aid with multitasking. We have channel per customer and often we're juggling between a few of them.

Actually, it is very irritating that is is not possible to pop out channels, when the same is already possible with chats. What else is a channel than a chat?
This way of thinking during your product planning and implementation is the main reason why MS never had been able to create a real internet browser, collaboration software or operating system! A simple chat application already seems to be too challenging.
(Sorry for this rant, but issues like that happen with every MS product, and my level of frustration is... high :-/ )

Need to be able to pop out a thread in a channel just like we can with a chat.

this is important because a lynchpin of collaboration is transparency. The barriers to group transparency must be (much much less than) <<< silo-ing activities like 1:1 chat. IMO, 1:1 chat should only be possible to pop out FROM a channel started chat. I would like the option to create that restriction on my team members in addition to rewarding transparency as much as possible.
Also the "teams" app should be able to pop-out -- similar to how planner (tasks), onenote, jira, and some other sidebar apps can popout.

Can we have a feature to flag a conversation or chat for follow-up?

Please make it so that I can pop out a channel conversation just like I can with a chat. It's infuriating I can't do it!

I agree that we need the ability to have multiple Teams and channels open at the same time. I have numerous Teams created at my work for a number of projects and have to cross-reference documents in different Teams and Channels. The inability to pop these out or work in several documents at once without having to leave what I am currently working on is extremely cumbersome and makes it hard to multitask.

I'm currently using only one channel, but am constantly responding to multiple chats. If I could pop out the channel I wouldn't keep having to navigate back to the file in the channel, after every time I go to answer a chat (which is every 5 mins or more).
I've started using the web version to access the channel, and the desktop version for everything else - which is silly when a pop-out would solve the issue. -

We are trying to use Teams now instead of OneDrive sync to access our Sharepoint files due to many issues, however, if we can't popout a Channel (that has the SharePoint libraries on them) every time I go and reply to a chat, I've lost what I had open (we have multi-folders for filing).
if we work on multiple channels having them popout like we can with a browser window or File Explorer window will engage our users more to use Teams.

Yes, Functionality in the channels is severely limited by not being able to break out channels into their own windows!
Does Microsoft think we only use one channel at a time? Come on! This is for business, multiple events can be occurring at the same time.
Stop making us constantly have to click everywhere and lose our places, instead of having multiple windows open!
