Pop Out Entire Chat List in New Window
Similar to having Skype Chat. It would be helpful to have a window of your chats separate from your Teams window that you can pop out. This would enable chatting and not disrupting the work that you are doing. The singular pop outs for chat is great, but you are not easily able to change to a new chat without disturbing your workspace within Teams.

There is nothing worse than when you are working on a file in Teams and someone sends a chat.
To read the chat teams jumps you off the file.Chat needs a separate window like Skype - a default popout that can take multiple chats

I agree that this is a much needed feature that will assist in the willingness to use the application. My workaround is to run the desktop application for chat only and use the web version for work within the channels.

Please implement a setting so we can select pop outs for chats as the 'Default'.
The current implementation is killing our workflow... -

Agree with this. If you have multiple chats going, you don't want to pop out a separate window for each.

Each one of their "apps" should be able to have its own window. Why this two-dimensional monolith of a program that tries to do too much? It's like a web page that is trying to take the place of an OS and does it very poorly. Why not just make a teams suite of separate apps and let us decide what windows we want to see. Very poorly conceived paradigm. Not too difficult to improve this.

Agreed. This would be a huge improvement. Alternatively, if you could open more than one Teams window, then you could just leave one in the Chat app, and work out of the other one. But this isn't an available feature now either.

Just got "migrated" from Skype to Teams. It needs so many clicks, when you work with MS-Teams and need to quickly answer a chat. Afterwards you have to go back to your old working place :-(
Please make it possible, that a user can choose to have *all* new chats as pop-out. -

Our company just migrated all meeting/chat software from Skype for business to Teams. Overall great switch, however I want my Skype chat back w/ instant pop-out. The Teams implementation for chat stinks and is a significant step backwards in my opinion.

Please add this feature! If you miss a notification, you can easily miss the message someone is sending you which could be a very important one!!!

There should be a setting: "Default Chat to pop out" or something like.

PLEASE! If you are working in a teams document and someone chats you, you have to get out. Some if this can be avoided if you pop out the document to the browser, but I want chat completely separate (similar to skype) to avoid any weird transitions between working in teams and chats.

I avoid using teams chat and still default to Skype if available because of this feature not existing. Individual pop outs is a decent start, but when you have a lot of chats going on, having 5-10 individual windows isn't preferred therefore you have to keep them within teams which disrupts your workspace as mentioned in the OP.

This functionality is desperately needed. Chat shouldn't interrupt your work but should enable quick conversations whilst you are working. It's different from a meeting where you give it your full attention
