Automatic Mute Notifications When On Video or Audio Call
Automatically mute all Teams notifications when on a video or audio conference call. Mute all notifications that are outside the conference call itself.
Thank you for your feedback. The team is looking into this feature and considering possible solutions. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Really? It's been a year and they haven't fixed this yet?

Agreed! - "it is actually a huge risk for message notifications to pop on-screen while presenting on Teams; especially if you are a manager or HR rep, sometimes getting messages others should not see; I cannot understand how this wasn't already baked into the software on Day 1, but PLEASE fix it"
Absolutely essential especially for less IT-affine staff. As Ben Stiller once said in a movie DO IT !

We desperately need this fix. Receiving calls and notifications while presenting/listening to a presentation is quite annoying.
we need this . thanks
This NEEDS to happen it should be simple.

Really need to get this on the roadmap ASAP. I have ADHD and having a pop-up during a meeting completely shuts me down. And because of the ADHD I cannot reliably remember to turn on and off "Do Not Disturb". Please consider this an accessibility issue.
We are at 1719 votes 10 pages of comments and almost a year from the original post. Not good enough.

I get beeps and notifications from Mail, WhatsApp and, probably, other apps.
On my android phone there's a "meetings" setting which mutes all of these, while allowing my meeting to continue.
It is odd that my phone can do this but my (presumably more sophisticated) PC cannot.
I don't just want to mute notifications when on a call, I would like the ability to customise whether notifications are shown for each status particularly "busy". I set my status to busy if I am not going to reply to incoming messages for a while. I don't mind people sending messages when my status is busy and don't want to discourage that by setting my status to "do not disturb". I just don't want to be distracted by the notifications.

I found a work around... quit Teams and open Slack

What an obviously missing feature - who writes this rubbish software?
Clearly they don't work in an enterprise environment, Microsoft have probably outsourced their dev to a bunch of children in a 3rd world country to cut costs and boost their massive profit.
Teams is a disaster that doesn't seem to have made it out of beta.
"Status is automatically set to Presenting in Teams when screen sharing is started during a TEAMS meeting"... but in real life not all meetings are MS Teams, we have to work with other platforms too, depending on our clients or partners. Status should automatically be set to presenting when screensharing in any application (Zoom, WebEx...)
If Skype or Jabber can do it, there is no reason Teams is not able to do it.

This should be integrated to work across Microsoft Office products as well, as a benefit of using the full Office suite. When entering a Teams call, pop up a button to temporarily silence all Office notifications. Having to listen to everyone's Teams and Outlook dinging all through a call is maddening.
More than 12 months since this was posted and still no better...
Why not make Teams to be managed by PC Settings? Notifications and popup managed by windows. Especially pops, they are really annoying and disturbing. Its more annoying then pop ads on webapages.
All other cross platform apps uses notification controlled by system but not Teams.
Notification are annoying and loud.
Agree. If the Teams window is already focused, OS-level Teams notification should be disabled and handled within the app itself in a less distracting way.

Agreed, make it an optional setting in Teams so people can set it to not disturb them with notifications when on a Teams call, or allow them if people like to see them as they come in.
