launch live events in new window
Teams live window is either full screen or non-movable bottom right small window.
Make live events a new window so that it can be independent of teams window.
Agree %100. Not only is it NOT a separate window, but if you are in fullscreen you cannot get any alerts in Teams. So if people chat with you, you don't even know it is happening. I really cannot believe this has not been worked on in a year and a half.
+1 to Christopher D response. You can copy the link and open in browser to get around this.
In addition, there is a bug in version 1.4.00.16567. When you chat during a live meeting, the meeting is minimised to a small floating window. After some clicks, the click handler on that window breaks, so you cannot make the video cover the full teams window any more. Clicking on the video just does nothing. You only make the video full screen. This should be fixed.
August 2021, still cant stream in a separate window, come on man!

Support/Vote this option. No idea why was not built with seperate window functionality...consistency in product. And as someone posted as well...once I leave original view to respond to chats in other channels...I cannot get back to the Q/A and submit questions unless I LEAVE the call and rejoin...having to do this repeatedly and miss important company dissemination. Live is used for wide company broadcasts which are done for their criticality of business...but my work communications with others must not be impeded or prevent me from returning to a full live broadcast with ability to access questions and answers.
Fully second this opinion. Regular Teams meetings open in a new window so you can maintain a parallel chat. This should be a basic function also in Live Events.

This is common sense, any updates on this? I've also noticed once I minimize the Live Event, I have no way of bringing back my controls/Q&A box when I'm participating in a Live Event.
Live Events are a great option but this sort of stuff (taking up all of Teams) is almost a deal breaker.

YES PLEASE! Live events essentially take over your whole Teams functionality.
The picture-in-picture function makes it impossible to read chats from other groups or persons since it blocks the bottom corner of the chat window.
Being forced to turn to your mobile device to respond to chat when you're running multiple monitors on a desktop feels more than silly. It's frustrating.
EDIT: I see the Live Video box is moveable - but not able to be minimized or opened in a separate window.
Teams POs, where is this on your backlog? The non-stop toggling on the Teams UI during a Live Event is really killing productivity...

What I do at the moment is that I use the pop-out chat feature (at least in chats where it can be used) ...agree that this is annoying and would be nice to be able to pop out the live event instead
I'm on a Live event right now. I can't see anything people are typing to me. This needs to pop out in it's own window.

The work around is to open the Live Event in your browser instead of the app. You can then detach the tab, move it on the screen you want and do something else on the Teams app on another screen.
In browser features of Office365 are impressive.
Can you please fix this? Often I cannot enlarge to previous mode the minimized window after changing to Chat. If it enlarges, it goes only to full-size screen mode where you cannot see the Q&A window of the live event (which is the only way to communicate), which is frustrating as the only workaround is to exit the event and rejoin again. Thank you.
We are just getting started rolling out TEAMS LIVE. It is really frustrating to not be able to move the window to another monitor and attend to activities in another area of Teams. Please update this functionality. Thank you!

I just attended a Live Event and it was very frustrating as I could not continue working in Teams on one monitor and watch the Live Event on another monitor.
This is one of the most frustrating things about Teams. Please update this.
Please! This makes it hard to do anything else while there's a live stream.

This is the worst... so often i cant get back to the event when you leave to chat something.
Yes please! Why is this not a thing yet?
Yes, its great for other meetings, lets finish the move to pop out windows if possible for all events.
