reply on chat
In teams chat: If we are doing a group chat. it will be difficult to know who is replying on what message. Even sometimes on a one to one chat. We get confused on what message he replied as we just keep typing the matter.
So, Just like in WhatsApp, we can select the message in a chat and click on reply and answer it. this will avoid the confusion and make things clearer on exactly what message I responded. Crisp and clear communication.
Very frustrating that during a meeting when so many things are coming into the chat, comments, questions I should have the ability to reply to a specific chatted item. The only way to do this is to @mention someone so they know I am replying directly to them. This is long overdue, if I can reply to a specific comment/chat in a Team setting I should be able to do the same thing in chat meeting. Make the chats threaded please!!

Love uservoice and all, but there are more than a dozen requests for this basic and much needed feature. I home there is some backend checking and aggregating going on so that this feature gets elevated faster. Since the pieces are likely there (running on the mobile client), hopefully this can be expedited and the demand can be met..

How can a simple reply button is missing???! in the windows version, which is mostly being used in office

There are 5 or 6 different requests for this same feature. If you join then, there are probably enough votes to get implemented?
MS Teams desktop application INCONSISTENCY: why is it missing the "Reply" function in Chat?
The "Teams" section has it, and the "Chat" section in the mobile app has it too. So it's not that reply wouldn't make sense in Chat...

It's unbeliaveble this is not implemented yet!

This should have been a basic feature for Teams in Windows. Must add this ASAP!
much needed feature. I have to keep copying part of the message and say with regards this...... answer
I think we should close this issue but +8 the last one

I concur. This is already available on the mobile client, so no reason why it shouldn’t be available on the desktop client too!
Please find the screenshot. this makes the communication very clear and crisp on what message I am exactly replying on.
This will be very useful in business communications and a great enhancement. also also for a message is read or not, you can indicate with a green dots or red dot (just like Whatsapp tickmark you can use dot instead of tick mark).
Think of this. this will be very useful.
