Abilitiy to add spell-checked word to dictionary and to turn off spell checking altogether
Ability to add spell-checked word to dictionary!
Ability to turn off spell checking!
This is a bug, and Teams should never have been released with it!

This problem was 1st reported in 2018 when Teams was a new product. At the time the MS Team assured us that there were improvements coming. I've now come back to Teams after an absence of 1 year only to find that there has been absolutely no improvement in the proofing tools. Last time MS complained about lack of staff. If MS don't want to make a decent proofing tool for Teams then why not use the tools used by all other office components. Even Skype for Business' spell checker was better!

I don't understand why Teams can't use the proofing tools used by all other MS Office apps. The current spell checker is woefully inadequate. Firstly that you can't add words to a user dictionary, The name of the company I work for is always marked as a spelling error.
Secondly, the corrections never follow the capitalisation of the word they replace so I often have to go back and change the case of the 1st letter after fixing a spelling error
Then finally the spell suggestions are truly weird. For example, I deliberately mistyped someone as somone. The attached screenshot shows the suggestions. Someone doesn't appear.
If MS wants to use a different proofing tool to all the other MS Office tools why not use Grammarly? At least it does the job well, even if the range of languages is limited.

Please upvote. I am finding quite a few issues in teams like this.
teams seem to be an immature product missing simple things, like Add to dictionary
