Change default meeting options
The default meeting options are not adjustable at this time. By default, the meeting options are set so that no one has to wait in the lobby and everyone has the presenter role by default. For each meeting, the meeting owner must manually adjust it. There is currently no option to adjust the standard. This is not pleasant for an education tenant.
Make sure that it is possible to adjust the default meeting options.
p.s. this is / was possible in Skype
We’re happy to announce admins are able to change the default value of ‘Who can present?’ in Meeting Options via the new parameter, DesignatedPresenterRoleMode. For more information, please visit: https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/meeting-policies-in-teams or https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/policy-packages-edu
In addition there is a new default Teams meeting policy to enforce lobby in meetings for tenants who have not modified the default meetings policy. With this change, meeting organizers can define/fine-tune the lobby experience via the Meeting options feature. For information on meeting options, please see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/change-participant-settings-for-a-teams-meeting-53261366-dbd5-45f9-aae9-a70e6354f88e

I was looking for this kind of comment. A good chunk of my stuff aren't very tech savvy, so it would be great if the default for Presenter was reversed, so that only the Organizer has those privileges by default. To add to that, the option to make someone a Presenter should be more obvious, for the benefit of those persons who aren't very tech savvy.

Agree, would be helpful to have "only those in …. (a certain team)" as an option as well. if there is also a way to disarm the "chime" of entry (to alert someone is waiting) once the meeting has started, this would also be helpful.
Also, the existing meeting options should be made unambiguous.
(My Teams is in Dutch language. It is possible that I'm looking at poor translations)
E.g. Who should not wait in lobby? Remove NOT and provide clear options that allow us to make any setting we like. Right now it is not possible to have everyone wait in the lobby.
E.g. Always allow callers to bypass the lobby (yes/no). ALWAYS, ALLOW, BYPASS are mixed messagings. It's not clear what is meant here and what the consequences are of selecting yes or no
I agree. It would be great to have the ability "before" the meeting to register presenters. To add to this presenters can be 'external' presenters. It seems I cannot make attendees from another tenancy a presenter.
Great idea. I concur!
This is extremely important for people who use the same meeting settings all the time. It is a large source of complaints from customers.
Exactly this! We need org wide settings for default "Meeting Options". If anything, the default role should be "Attendee", not "Presenter".
EDIT: Found it on the roadmap! https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=63206
At a school having students initiate a meeting before the teacher, or renter a meeting after it has finished is a real issue. It would be far better if students went to the lobby first and not be able to enter a meeting unless the organizer is present. I agree it is also a pain having to change the settings each time to make the teacher the presenter, otherwise students play with others settings.
please do so
I' m waiting to use Teams, until this problem is solved.
