Media keys affecting Teams web app.
I am listening to music.
I have teams opened in a Chrome tab.
I press pause/play to stop the music playback.
I expect music to stop playing.
Actually music continues to play and Teams web app is starting to call whoever is on my teams tab.
I would like the Teams app to be unaffected by media keys or at least have an option to toggle their interactivity.
This is beyond aggravating. For reference, I use Spotify desktop app and Teams desktop app, and this issue is driving me nuts. I click the media "play" key and MS Teams sounds like it's trying to make a call. Then I need to hit the play button again (to stop the MS Teams call), switch focus to Spotify to start my music, and then switch focus back to whatever application I'm actually working on.
This is not limited to the web app - this also occurs with the desktop application.
On the desktop application, it plays the ringtone but does not appear to actually be calling anyone. More irritating: when I receive a call and the ringtone is playing it hijacks control from Tidal or Spotify.
- Recieving a call on the desktop Teams app
- Ringtone plays on system audio
- I hit play/pause on my keyboard to pause my music before answering
- The ringtone sound is paused, and my music continues playing
Still very frustrating, What is the timeline for a fix on this? No other applications do this - maybe stop using windows media services to play the ringtone?
I click play on keyboard and instead of playing a song on Spotify it plays the incoming call sound from Teams.

Why is this issue still not fixed yet, this is really annoying!
I have been experiencing this issue since my work provided me with a new Windows 10 PC last month. I did not experience this on my previous Windows 7 PC. Like many others I use the media keys to control Spotify whilst working. The issue consistently occurs when I press the play media key straight after a call finishes. Instead of Spotify playing, Teams begins to play the ring tone.
Please fix this infuriating bug.
Same here on macOS. Please fix this extremely annoying bug. It's open since in March!
And with this pandemic raging, there are lot of people experiencing this very bug. Most of them probably won't find this thread or will just disappointedly see that this is is an actual, no-workaround, can't fix it yourself bug.
It happens to me with the windows client too. It's very annoying!, Please fix this asap!

This is super annoying.
I use the play/pause media key for Spotify all the time, and after I have a call in Teams the media key will also start playing the Teams notification sound (the sound it plays when someone calls you.)
Disabling permission to MIDI device doesn't work either.

Very annoying, it also happens sometimes with Teams in the background, and the annoying teams sounds plays instead of the music I want! Please disable this!

Windows desktop client. When I pause my music to take a call, I generally hit resume the second it's over and get blasted with the Teams ringtone and then have to dig through windows to find my Spotify client somewhere.
Please help. The ringtone haunts me enough as it is.
I've gone into the Teams settings under permissions and disabled the "Midi Device" option, but Teams continues to take priority of the keyboard controls even when minimized. So now, instead of Teams playing the annoying phone sound, my pause/play button simply does nothing. Come on, Microsoft. Teams has NO BUSINESS controlling what my media buttons do, much less when I tell it not to. If my employer didn't force me to use this garbage program, it would have been toast long ago. You better hope more people don't catch on to your BS because you're gonna start losing entire companys worth of clients in swathes if you don't shape up.
Desktop app, windows 10 user. Media key play button triggers teams ringtone, which is really annoying.

I have this problem too, using Teams Desktop on Windows. I cannot disable midi device control on my machine.
Upvote! Nothing in this UV post says anything about the platform, but I inferred that at least some users use Windows. I experience this issue on macOS as well, using the desktop app. I guess it's a 'feature' recently added for all platforms. It needs to go!
Hey all - You can fix this - in the settings under permissions disable Midi Device control - should stop it. Let me know how you go!
Same here using teams desktop client. I'm sure it only started a few days ago. It just plays the notification sound.
