Media keys affecting Teams web app.
I am listening to music.
I have teams opened in a Chrome tab.
I press pause/play to stop the music playback.
I expect music to stop playing.
Actually music continues to play and Teams web app is starting to call whoever is on my teams tab.
I would like the Teams app to be unaffected by media keys or at least have an option to toggle their interactivity.

Good God please fix this!!!!! There is no reason to have media buttons affect teams.

Exact same issue here on the Desktop app, SUPER annoying! Lots of people listen to music while working, please fix this!

This is super annoying.
I use the play/pause media key for Spotify all the time, and after I have a call in Teams the media key will also start playing the Teams notification sound (the sound it plays when someone calls you.)
Disabling permission to MIDI device doesn't work either.

Very annoying, it also happens sometimes with Teams in the background, and the annoying teams sounds plays instead of the music I want! Please disable this!

Windows desktop client. When I pause my music to take a call, I generally hit resume the second it's over and get blasted with the Teams ringtone and then have to dig through windows to find my Spotify client somewhere.
Please help. The ringtone haunts me enough as it is.
I've gone into the Teams settings under permissions and disabled the "Midi Device" option, but Teams continues to take priority of the keyboard controls even when minimized. So now, instead of Teams playing the annoying phone sound, my pause/play button simply does nothing. Come on, Microsoft. Teams has NO BUSINESS controlling what my media buttons do, much less when I tell it not to. If my employer didn't force me to use this garbage program, it would have been toast long ago. You better hope more people don't catch on to your BS because you're gonna start losing entire companys worth of clients in swathes if you don't shape up.
Desktop app, windows 10 user. Media key play button triggers teams ringtone, which is really annoying.

I have this problem too, using Teams Desktop on Windows. I cannot disable midi device control on my machine.
Upvote! Nothing in this UV post says anything about the platform, but I inferred that at least some users use Windows. I experience this issue on macOS as well, using the desktop app. I guess it's a 'feature' recently added for all platforms. It needs to go!
Hey all - You can fix this - in the settings under permissions disable Midi Device control - should stop it. Let me know how you go!
Same here using teams desktop client. I'm sure it only started a few days ago. It just plays the notification sound.

This is very annoying. Microsoft please disable this feature. The pause and play doesn't do anything in Teams and I have to directly go to Spotify to pause or play my music and I do that very often. There is no use to this. Your application is as it is very laggy and this on top of this makes it more and more not used by your users. If you want to improve your customer retention, then please do something about it and stop ignoring us for god's sake!!!
Very annoying. I want to disable media keys for Teams.
I have this issue in the desktop version as well. Is there no setting to turn this off? I do not want media keys to control Teams.
Same issue here. Using the desktop version of Teams
Adding my Vote. Please remove this function. Media keys has no use in Teams
Should be an easy fix, but maybe the labyrinth of windows notifications is making this impossible. Come on devs, you can do this!
I know this is about the web-app, but a question about Dekstop apps got redirected here.
The desktop version captures media keys as well; this is super annoying. When I get a call I want to quickly pause my music using media keys in order to be able to answer the call. Instead the phone-ringing gets muted. So silly and pointless.
Same here, also getting this in the desktop app
