Tagging in private channels
Tags are finally out!
But it works only for public channels in a Team. It would be great to have the same functionality for private channels.
Use case:
We are providing a DMS support for our organizational units in MS Teams.
Each organizational unit has its own private channel where the support team and the organizational unit users are finding place. Private channels are used to avoid data leak. For the users it's difficult to mentrion all the people from the support team using @.
So it would be greate to have the same functionallity for tags as public channels have.

Yeah, would be great to menton our teamleaders in for example the private-channel Finance as part of the total-compagny-team.

This would be extremely helpful. I have just started exploring using tags and at least half of the cases where I would use these are within private channels.

I think there's a conflict scenario if we add a comment "@(a+b+c) ...." in a private channel which only allow a and b. What should teams do?
Answer: we need a warning and make it happen please XD

The concept of tags is great. They are needed in Private Channels.
I still do not understand why Private Channels have so many limitations. Any way to just make them have the same functionalities as Public Channels instead of having to ask one functionality at a time?

It would be great to be able to use tags in private channels. I use the tags for functional groups within a Team, and would like to be able to flag specific conversations for that functional group, without alerting the entire channel. Those conversations still need to be visible to everyone in the private channel, but only generate an alert for the specified group. It'd be great to not have to list that group individually, especially if there are 7+ people in the Tag.

This is a major issue for me. Of course, only tags that map to users in the channel make sense, but right now, private channels feel very restrictive (and there is no way to switch back to public)

This is a needed enhancement! We have many public Teams for general access and information sharing, but also private channels within the team for focused needs.
Another enhancement would be to allow the SP library behind the team/channel to access permission groups created outside of Teams. This could also help in the control for access.

Just ran into this very issue (tagging not working in private channel) ... no idea why it's not working, but it certainly would be beneficial if it did.
