Tagging in private channels

Tags are finally out!

But it works only for public channels in a Team. It would be great to have the same functionality for private channels.

Use case:
We are providing a DMS support for our organizational units in MS Teams.
Each organizational unit has its own private channel where the support team and the organizational unit users are finding place. Private channels are used to avoid data leak. For the users it's difficult to mentrion all the people from the support team using @.

So it would be greate to have the same functionallity for tags as public channels have.

    This is a major issue for me. Of course, only tags that map to users in the channel make sense, but right now, private channels feel very restrictive (and there is no way to switch back to public)

    This is a needed enhancement! We have many public Teams for general access and information sharing, but also private channels within the team for focused needs.

    Another enhancement would be to allow the SP library behind the team/channel to access permission groups created outside of Teams. This could also help in the control for access.

    Just ran into this very issue (tagging not working in private channel) ... no idea why it's not working, but it certainly would be beneficial if it did.

    Is there any plan for Tags being available in Teams private channels?

    This has been posted since March 09, 2020 with no response from Microsoft.

    Could not agree more, TAGS in private channels is essential to enterprise-wide adoption of TEAMS.

    It would also be nice in Class Teams if you could use the tags for something - like differentiating assignments or inviting groups to meetings not everyone .....

    Tags add a lot to Teams. Making tags available within private channels is really necessary. Having to @mention everyone on the team individually is painful.

    I was disappointed to learn I could not use established tags in private channels along with a whole list of actions (e.g. cannot attach a Stream video to a post apparently). Just weird.
