Teams Meeting organizer can force mute audio for attendees
Give meeting organizers the ability to force mute audio for all attendees in the meeting options page. Attendees should not be able to un-mute their audio with this option set.
We have launched the ability for a presenter to ‘hard mute’ attendees. This feature gives meeting organizers the ability to mute one to many meeting participants while removing the muted participants’ ability to unmute themselves. in my opinion one of the most important features
To make Teams an efficient tool in any meeting and in classes in a school or university environment, this feature of blocking participants to unmute is very important.
Currently, an organizer or participant has the control to mute others (particularly attendees) during a video conference, but not the ability to unmute attendees. I understand why this may be an issue in other industries, but as the App is being used for schools, it'd be nice to have that option to toggle mute/unmute.
Additionally, there should be an option for Organizers and Presenters to Disable Attendee Unmuting (but only once we as teachers can scroll through all videos feeds or get a "Notify the Speaker" or "Raise Hand" function for the Attendees) even when the Chat Box is disabled. Teachers are finding that they need a little more control over their students.
In some sessions, I have heard that students are even playing music, some not realizing the music is on, etc. So, for a certain length time of the meeting(first 15-20 minutes), the organizer should be allowed to talk without any interruption. Maybe after that open to all for discussion. Even now it is supposed to be meeting not a marketplace where everyone is speaking(though they feel that they are not disturbing others). So, this one is needed.
Don't understand how this wasn't a feature from the start.
As a meeting organizer I think this is definitely a must - I work with teens and need control over the mute options.
Yes! This would be a nice feature.
This is a big concern for me and my middle school right now as we begin to look at options for online teaching. Please make this an option!

Yes! Especially as users with a variety of levels of technical literacy are learning to use telecommunications platforms like this one, giving the organizer the ability to mute one or more attendees WITHOUT the option for the attendee to unmute themselves is critical.

Having attendees being able to unmute themselves is a MAJOR issue for us - I experienced this just yesterday and got HAMMERED by the powers that be for allowing voice questions during what was supposed to be presentation only meeting. I would have done it via Teams Live Events, but they don't give the option of dial-in for attendees.
This is such a simple feature that was available in Skype for Business. BRING IT BACK!
Yes please! I'm supposed to use this platform for work, but I currently think Zoom is way better. Especially with larger team meetings. I also think Teams should have the raising hand feature like Zoom does.
If you want schools to use Teams instead of Zoom you need this.

MSFT should have a look at how Zoom works - I'm a huge fan of Teams, but having recently investigated Zoom for a friend, there are some really good features for larger meetings.
One more vote in here.. Plus ability to control who can record a meeting..

yes please. This seems a very sensible edition and something needed urgently under the current circumstances

Prevent Attendees from Unmuting Themselves
I am a teacher trying to teach online during COVID-19. My school is a Microsoft school and so we are all using Teams. I would like to be able to mute my students. However, they have the ability to unmute themselves whenever they want. I would like to be able to present for a while with everyone muted, then UMUTE everyone after I've asked a question.
Better yet, give them the ability to "raise their hand" virtually. Then I can unmute them. I know the raise hand feature is already being worked on.
This is a real good feature for schools, so would be realy nice if it can be added
