Audio device: Default Communication Device
I have StreamDeck to switch between audio devices. Sometimes I want to use headset, sometimes I want to use speakers. I can press a button and change the Default Communication Device.
For Skype: Great
For Teams: Useless
Teams should present an option for each of audio input and output: "Use default communication device".

I have several different devices that I use depending on if I'm docked or not. I am using "SoundVolumeView" to disable all devices other than the one I want to use (which at least gets Teams to swap to it) but it is a pain and may lead to issues.
I toggle between audio devices with a keyboard shortcut and the exact same problem applies: Teams does not allow selection of "default communications device" in its device settings. Please add this. For reference, Discord correctly implements the feature.

Has anyone found where Teams saves its soundcard configuration out of interest? I've checked in various config files, and in the registry, but can't seem to find it.
I've written a tool that sets which sound card to use in various other specialist audio applications already, so might be able to do something similar if we knew how Teams stored this. It would be nice if Teams supported something natively, but needs must.
My company is actively avoiding teams for calls on certain machines, because the audio configuration is too complex for users to set up reliably without breaking something else.
I have to resort to use teams on the remote desktop machine use, since remote desktop uses the default audio device. However this dramatically increases latency.
It's mind boggling that this wasn't the default implementation. The only chat software that doesn't do this and you wrote the OS.

It seems comical that Microsoft ignore the 'Default Communication Device' logic within the Windows Audio Subsystem for Teams. Even if you launch teams for the first time, it selects an arbitrary audio endpoint as mic/headphone inputs/outputs, rather than the system defaults.
I wouldn't mind if there was a way to override the Teams default by using a script/reg key to specify which endpoint to use, but that doesn't seem to exist either.
If Microsoft don't even utilise their own 'use this device for communications' flag on audio endpoints in their own ecosystem, then something is very wrong with their audio subsystem. :)
Very annoying answering calls with Teams and have to manually turn of your other audio because Teams is not a communications device and "Mute all other sounds" dose not work.
I think Default Device is slightly less clear terminology. Default is what Discord uses but it doesn't switch when I change the devices in the bottom right. Same as System is what Zoom uses and it's great. I want it to follow the device selected in the bottom right corner.
Me too - surprised it needs to even be asked for this to be added

This is a feature that is required nowadays .. can't believe this isn't built-in by default ...
Received a call earlier only to notice I had to manually switch it to my bluetooth headset (which is not always connected) .. even Discord has this.
