Pop out window for files and other tabs
When using teams i constantly need to switch between chats, teams and open files and tabs.
I read that a new feature will be to pop out a chat conversation.
I would suggest to also include a pop out for working in an excel or word file/ or even a different tab. This to continue working will browsing the teams channel for additional info.
I need to update documents based on input from the team members and info from other files and tabs. I really need to pop out a working file to maintain overview and accessibility to the document.

Try clicking on the three dots up by your user name, from there you can just click open in the browser. This will open the document in your default browser from the SharePoint location or teams server. Then back to teams. I don't edit directly in teams and discourage anyone from doing that as well.
Absolutely!! I need this. Teams is now my "dashboard" at work and I'm using it constantly through the work day. This is my number 1 request!
Agree! Please put an option "Pop out" as additional window, it could save at least 10-20 mins/day and nerve cells for many people :)

Why is this feature still not implemented? Has anyone on the Teams development team actually tried working with their tool all day every day? Aren't you guys eating your own dog food?
Unless you guys just think that having your users disrupt their workflow every now and then is productive?
Wake up, I see people getting away from your brain child in droves.

Yes, absolutely need this. Trying to edit files within Teams is, as someone else commented, "brutal," when you are also trying to keep up with new chat messages coming in.
Totally agree! I just spent time trying to look up how to do this because I assumed this basic feature would have been thought of in beta testing... the fact you can't pop out whatever doc/excel/Ppt you are working on and if you get a chat it essentially closes and saves it is infuriating. We need to be able to keep multiple windows (within teams like docs/excel/chat, etc. open at the same time. I cannot believe this was not thought of before. Please make this a priority, MS. Thanks so much!
100% agree. I just get going in a file, get a chat, and then file it shut back down. Let it stay open.
As a Business Analyst/PM/QA person, this would be extremely beneficial!!
It could take me a few seconds to copy a link into a document for the developer rather than go navigate to it, then try to find the comment I started for them. WAY less confusing if I could just open the file explorer on the side.
This is brutal. Please fix this.
OMG this is so incredibly frustrating. I'll be working on an Excel file, but need to respond to a chat but as soon as I do that, not only does my file CLOSE, but the entire folder level I was in is also reset.

Yes could not agree more. It is a big set back that this is not an option.

I need this functionality as well.
So much switching back and forth is every inefficient.
+1. A pop-out for working on any shared team file is a must. I have to update a shared Excel doc, often get a chat notification while doing so. It's impossible to see who it's from, know if it can be ignored for a bit or if it needs an urgent reply, without coming out of the file edit. As Teams is stateless, when I go back to the file I need to change the filters all over again. (It's a complex spreadsheet). Please make this a high priority!
yes, that is required as we need to refer multiple files during meetings and even working as well ...
+1. I just requested same via the feedback link in Teams.
+1 this would be so helpful as we'd like to use teams to maintain & manage all our shared files across my team. Until this feature exists, I copy the link to the file & open it as a tab in my web browser.

Yes its very much needed. currently if we switch to other fields in teams while any document open in teams, document get closed and again we have to open it to work. with pop out features for documents, it will be more easy to work with teams. I am not using teams to view documents due to this reason.
I need this too!

It would be great to have the tabs pop-out. I'm working on a list that was formerly an Excel spreadsheet and every morning I have to try and stop myself from opening the spreadsheet to work on it.
At the moment I'm opening Teams in a web browser so I can have 2 separate instances of it open. I'm doing the same with the tabs - opening them in SharePoint.
Please give us pop-out functionality so we don't have to do this.
