Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your feedback! The team is hard at work on this highly requested feature. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Glad to hear Microsoft is finally working on this basic chat feature that most modern messaging apps have at this point...

1 year to move it from the backlog to in progres...
Ha love the update one year on. Come on simple stuff

its so clunky not to be able to quote reply on the desktop app
Honestly makes me want to use slack instead. Should be simple to reply to a specific message or start a thread

Perhaps this is just because I'm on Teams version 1.4.00.11769 (64-bit), but I have the Reply feature already...

A workaround I'm using at the moment is:
type: > and copy and paste the message you want to reply to press ENTER and type your reply.
Once you send this, it makes it appear like you quoted the message.
I know it's not ideal but it can be used until this "such difficult to implement feature" gets finally rolled out
I have read all the 118 "in development" items in the roadmap. This isn't even on the roadmap yet. I cant believe this isn't there. All the chat apps have this feature and it would add efficiency to the chat functionality in Teams chats and channels.
thanks for your update. But like @Regis MARCHEWKA said it's hard to believe that such a basic chat feature is this hard to implement – especially when Teams is getting a lot of other (more specia) features at the same time and when the same basic feature is already in Teams on Android for a long time.
Please give this direct answer feature a higher priorization. For an agency like ours this would make daily conversations crucially easier!
Thanks for your work and best regards

thanks for your message "Thank you for your feedback! The team is hard at work on this highly requested feature. We will share an update as soon as one is available." as of today may 6th 2021
nevertheless i had totally forgotten as it's so long to develop such a crucial feature
i can't understand you missed it at first place and i can't understand you take ages to fix it
sorry being frank

hahaha I can't believe anybody is working on this: first comment is from november 2016...
This is a great function on mobile that all app use.
I don't understand why we can't have it on PC
I hope reply to the specific message is both for chat and channel posts.

I really think microsoft released this product in haste. Basic features are missing and there are many limitations in using this application.
ASAP also means that Ahh.. we are Strongly encourage to do this stuff .. unfortunately, nothing is actually on progress As you can see.. Probably will available soon...
Can you share us specific, or estimated date to update?

I am really hoping that this is not an auto-reply from ADMIN. As I notice that the last reply by ADMIN on this thread was on 6th May 2020 and the next is exactly after a year i.e. 6th May 2021.
Looking forward to this feature instead of some useless features that are released which hardly anyone uses. This is the feature that we are looking forward to and will use more often.
So now we know the "ASAP" in Microsoft is no update from 2020 to 2021 then the team still can say they work ******* the "Highly requested feature".
SO many useless features in Teams like "browse YouTube for videos" rather than reply to a message.... I don't get it
Well it was only on the backlog for 4,5 years - so I guess agile is really deeply engraved into microsofts development practices... LOL

Should have done it earlier. If skype could have it, I don't see a reason why Teams didn't have it. Anyway looking forward to it.
