Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your patience. We are thrilled to that replying to a chat message in the desktop client is now available as part of our Public Preview. It is expected to roll out to the public ring over the next several weeks.
For details on switching to the Microsoft Teams Public Preview version, please see : https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview.
We look forward to your preview feedback!
It's amazing and sad at the same time - a feature we needed since the start of the dekstop app und which is available in the mobile-app since the beginning. But we are really happy to use this feature now also in Teams-Desktop - THANKS
Wow, thank you so much.
It's weird having to do 2-steps just to reply to a message. Why not just have a Reply button that automatically shows under the chat message without someone having to do this? It's extremely inefficient and not user friendly at all. Or even allowing users to hover over the message & see the "Reply" button.

This is a very good start, but it's missing a critical component... the quoted text should be linked back to its original location in the chat. As is, it at least gives you a date reference, but you're still stuck with a lot of scrolling to get back to the location if the message that was quoted is weeks or months old. (Teams on MacOS, if that makes a difference.)
@Alex Thank you for bringing this to Teams! However, please add the ability to reply as a(n always visible) one-click button at the bottom-right of a chat message rather than having to do the following process:
1. Hover over chat message
2. Click the ellipses to open the full menu (why is the full menu associated with the reaction modal anyway?)
3. Click reply
Ideally I'd like to see both the ellipses menu button visible at the top right corner on hover (with the reaction modal popping up 'above' the message, vertically-speaking) and the reply button always visible on the bottom right corner.
Great that it's finally there, thank you!
One minor detail about switching to public preview. The "switching" experience is a bit confusing. When I click on the three dots (...) an then "About" there's an option called "Developer preview" instead of "Public preview" (as the instructions call it). But then after selecting "Developer preview" and after Teams reloads *both* options ("Developer preview" and "Public preview") are shown underneath the About-menu with a check mark in front of them...

What took so long?
Hi. This feature is not available in Windows 8.1. Can you remedy?

Perfect - I am already testing this preview :)
Could you add the possibility of doing "double click" (in the free space) as way to reply to messages too? (same as whatsapp)
After sooo long finally we are making progress!

This is a good addition to the Teams. Especially to address a specific question.
Great! I'm already using!!!
Can you add it also for the web app?
Yes this would be great .....
Anyone posting this link should scroll back a few pages when the same link said the feature was launching in April 2021 and set their expectation level accordingly.
Hi. This feature is the only one missing to make TEAMS perfect!

Working like a charm (dev preview).

Looks like it's rolling out now for the private chat messages.
A very essential feature... Without this feature it's really becoming hard to follow a chat... It is so basic a feature...not sure why this was not planned earlier... Expedite expedite expedite... Before patience runs out..
