Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your patience. We are thrilled to that replying to a chat message in the desktop client is now available as part of our Public Preview. It is expected to roll out to the public ring over the next several weeks.
For details on switching to the Microsoft Teams Public Preview version, please see : https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview.
We look forward to your preview feedback!
Yes you can, Anonymous. You've gone this long without it. You can wait a little longer.
After enabling public preview, Reply feature was working fine for me. Suddenly today, I am not able to see the option.
Can't live without this option now. Please help.

I've already have version Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.26376 (64-bit), however the reply option is still not available in my Microsoft Teams. Even after I restart my pc, the results are the same. Please help!
Please make replying to a message possible with less clicks

My version of Teams...
You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.26376 (64-bit). It was last updated on 9/23/2021.
I had public preview turned on, but then turned it off. I restarted Teams, but despite that I seem to be stuck in Preview mode as I retain the "Reply" button. I can also tell because the "Shift + >" feature to quote is also broken. "Shift + >" should live beyond the reply feature as often you want to quote something from a different location (like another chat thread, for example).
It is now required to type a space after triple backticks to start a code box, and also after typing the > to start a quote box. There are other regressions as well such as white space not being retained on copy/paste. Please resolve ASAP!

I agree with Vladan's comment. I can no longer use ">" to quote part of text. I would like this feature back. It is nice to able to quickly paste text I want to quote from different places like this.
outstanding - thank you!

Great! (finally). Thank you very much for your efforts, I just tested it with Developer preview and it works like a charm.
Now we just need a better/easier shortcut for replying messages on Desktop (eg: just double click the message to reply it, like Whatsapp Web).
Also, we need the ">" shortcut to activate 'quote' back (or a new, similar and easy to use, shortcut for it)

Hi, Followed your instructions to switch to public preview at https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview
Unfortunately this does not work. Just not getting an option to swtich! Any reason why this is not hapenning?
Did we lose the ability to quote pieces of text by using only '>' at the beginning of the line now? This is not a replacement, this is enhancement of features we had already. Teams on MacOS
I would rather have the '>' feature back than reply, as I see the later one a subset in capabilities.
Does anyone else have this problem? Below is a piece of a screenshot when only '>' is in the comment line (production we have quote sub-field and public_preview we have only the '>' sign
It works great but it isn't user friendly (too many clicks).
Place an icon behind the message bubble.
Many thanks for now!

This works perfectly for me. And for the people say there's too many clicks, all you need to do is right-click on the message and select reply
