Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your continued feedback. As many people have pointed out, this is available on mobile today. Support for replying to a specific message is on the backlog for desktop. I’ll let you know when we have progress to share. Thanks.

Please is it possible to reply to a specific chat or quote a chat and respond?

I don't understand why this is on the Backlog. It's a much-needed feature and available on most modern communication app platforms. And it's also available in your mobile version. What exactly is the hold up on this? Makes no sense at all.

What Alex and all of Microsoft is trying to say is that please users switch to better platforms ... after all who uses Windows and Windows desktop clients these days, it is all Mac, Linux and Chrome.
Can you please let us know when the feature will be added. Also please share the latest update

@Alex how is this on backlog? This is probably one of the most important features in a business chat where I can make sure context is kept if more than one message is sent.
Even a partial quote of previous message would be great.
Having to copy paste it into a quote > box is just dumb.

Oh Microsoft. This can be done from mobile app, and the desktop app is even already able to show the "replied" message when someone replied from mobile app. Back-end functionality = done. Front-end view = done. I'm really sure this won't take so much effort to make it available on desktop app. Y'all sometimes funny.
@Alex With almost 16,000 votes and almost 1800 comments ... what DOES it take to get something off the backlog ?? Just asking!

Any update on Chat Reply option in MS Teams Desktop App, i could see same is available in Mobile App. Reply is very very essential feature and not sure why you ppl didn't thought through this in first release of Desktop App and hope you will add Reply option ASAP. Since because Reply option is not available in MS Teams, people moving/using other messaging platform like Skype, Slack etc.,
Response in Desktop, please
Surprising how we missed this basic feature. Look forward to this in the enhanced version.
I'm looking for this function. Please include. Thanks.

The lack of a Reply in Chat trains users to reply using the bottom "Start a new conversation" text box. This carries over to channel posts where they fragment conversations by replying using the same method.
I would go so far as to say get rid of that bottom text box altogether and add a deliberate button for starting a new topic in both Chat and Post. Users need a more obvious way to keep things together.

1. Copy the Message you want to reply to. (Together with the persons name and time if you want)
2. Go to where you type the new message, before you paste do "Shift + >" and it will create a small grey like bar,
3. Paste the message you want to reply to,
4. Press "Enter" button twice to leave the grey bra to a space under it,
5 . And type your reply and send.
It must be the people at MS don't use Teams. I can't understand why this isn't done yet
