Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.

Thank you for your continued feedback. As many people have pointed out, this is available on mobile today. Support for replying to a specific message is on the backlog for desktop. I’ll let you know when we have progress to share. Thanks.

    This is a good feature to have especially for group chats. The capability already exist in Channel chat. Why not bring it to the Chat section?

    Note to microsoft: as the picture is not entirely clear, the thought here is that a reply would reference a certain comment in a conversation and not just show up as another comment in the sequence of comments. In WhatsApp, you can reply to the comment and, thereafter, the reply will have a snippet of the original comment above it in the same comment window which is also a clickable link to the original comment.
    This is absolutely necessary for complex communications where one party may send 3 to 4 comments which need different replies.

    This would be a massively beneficial feature to add to Teams. Particularly when you're replying to a message from a while ago when you're in a large group chat.

    Definitely just like in Messenger, Viber, Slack and WhatsApp. This would definitely be a hit and useful feature in the future updates of Microsoft Teams. Hope the devs perform this feature soon. Thank you OP for the suggestion.

    I figured out how to do this, but it's annoying.

    Right-click > Copy ... the original message.

    In the window where you compose your new message, type the > character. A "quote" box with a new background color appears. Paste in the original message. When you hit ENTER to add your own comments, you'll drop out of the quoted part so your message appears separately.

    Other message threads on this Board show that the feature to more easily quote a previous message is in the works for Teams. Hopefully they can knock it out fast.

    indeed, it's a disappointment not to have this vital feature.
