Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your continued feedback. As many people have pointed out, this is available on mobile today. Support for replying to a specific message is on the backlog for desktop. I’ll let you know when we have progress to share. Thanks.

In a district with 88 schools serving 60k+ students and 7,900+ staff, I agree with Imran who said this regarding the reply capability on the desktop app, "this is a critical function, why is it so far down the backlog?"
Please add this ASAP.
Hi Team, I'm representing around 700 people with this post, who unanimously agree with at least the first point below:
1. This is a critical function, why is it so far down the backlog? Do you know that ALLOT of people jump to WhatsApp Web for more complicated discussions which become confusing without a Reply option?! why risk people jumping to a different system over such a small thing?!
2. This seems to be the dominant user voice for this feature request, and yet was not easily accessible; related searches for 'Reply' clearly demonstrates this. I wonder how many votes for this feature have been lost because of this

Hello, i just upgraded to the latest version of Teams desktop app and thought the reply feature would finally be implemented. Although there are many great much needed additions to Teams (thank you very much for all of them), this feature was not part of it.
Any word on an ETA for the reply feature in the desktop app?

It gets confusing when I'm trying to figure out what the other person is responding to when we're discussing more than one thing. Why is Teams being so slow when similar chat platforms (e.g. WhatsApp, FB Messenger even) already has this capability?
This should have been available in the product from the very start 🤦♂️ Enough of the video features please, get back to fixing the basics!

I would strongly recommend to prioritize this feature. It's very helpful in driving clarity to replies and with so many customers asking for it I think it should be prioritized amongst top few features in backlog.
Please note that this is now the most requested featured that is still in the backlog (since May!). I know that you are prioritizing Teams features dealing with video meetings and channels since these are hot right now and competition is tight in this space. And you are doing well. However, please consider that this is equally needed to stay with Teams on the desktop and not switch to the phone just to locate the message again and reply. We had to use a competing messaging product just for chat since 99% of our company are working from home on a PC or Mac. We want to do it mostly on Teams for the desktop.
Please. Please. Please.
Why is this taking so long? I've been waiting patiently for about 6 months. Terrible - when its super important to refer back to a particular message when i'm on desktop, i end up picking up my phone to send that one message. Dumb.

This could be excellent to have it available on both platforms, mobil phones on a channel chats and desktop app on 1:1 conversations and team channel conversations

Teams is a demo product being selled for a retail price. What a shame, Microsoft!!!
