Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your continued feedback. As many people have pointed out, this is available on mobile today. Support for replying to a specific message is on the backlog for desktop. I’ll let you know when we have progress to share. Thanks.

Okay this is simply infuriating. Not only it's a basic function of any chat app now, that we all enjoying Whatsapp for example, and many other, but also it does exist within Teams! We can do it in the mobile app! heck, we can even (sort of) do it on desktop by using the shortcut shift+> then manually pasting. So it exists, we only need a button to click on, that would use that shortcut + fetch the author and date+time of original message.
Competitors have it and according to this forum you've been working on it since 2017, how come it's not there yet? It's just a small function but it makes usability of the chat so much higher, please bring that.
this is a must have!
Dan Simpson, your tip is very useful. And please Microsoft to enhance this feature!
Why is this function available in the teams mobile app but not the desktop?
Can we Add the Reply to Chat Message feature in Microsoft Teams Web Version?
In the App version there is reply to chat message but in the Web version there is no reply to chat message.

I can't believe this is not already available! It's just common sense!
How does this not have more votes? Seriously.

I was just spending all kinds of time trying to figure out how to do this before doing a Google search and landing on this page.
I'll join the chorus - this is SUCH an important feature which is dearly missing
How is this not a thing. It exists in the mobile version, how the **** can it take this long to implement in the desktop version??! This is a MUST HAVE
This is really strange.
How come phone app (iphone & android) has the ability to reply to a message; and desktop app does not?
are there any plans on fixing this issue?
Yes, please implement ASAP. For some reason you can reply to messages in channels but not in chat. To add insult to injury you can swipe to reply to chat messages in the mobile app. Very sloppy Microsoft.
Yes please! This is madness that 1. the reply option is available when you create a channel and 2. it's available in the mobile app with a simple swipe right but not when you create a chat!
What's going on Microsoft? This clearly can't be an oversight because it's too much of a basic feature. Please implement!
This will clearly streamline the discussions that are essential.

1. Copy text
2. Type ">" (without quotes)
4. Hit enter twice
5. Complete your message
6. Hit enter again to send

na, seguimos igual, despues de varios meses, siguen sin añadir esto a la aplicación de Windows :'(
The > symbol approach on the desktop app is just a visual workaround but not the same as "reply" on mobile app. Although we can use the > symbol and quote a text, there is no link to the original post. when we select that, we can't go to the original post. In the mobile app, when we reply, there is a link to the original post and when we tap on that, we can go the original post.
