Reply to specific message in chat on desktop app
Having the ability to reply to specific messages in a chat on the desktop app. This is available on mobile today.
Thank you for your feedback! The team is hard at work on this highly requested feature. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

I am following this thread since last 1 year. I know we all are quite tired of the delay.
I have 1 HAPPY NEWS. I can see the option in our org's MS Teams Desktop app.
I was surprised to see it as well. After little digging I found out that we are the TAP users (some specific agreement between our org and Microsoft). I guess we got it as part of some live testing (I'm not a tech person).
So little more patience, I guess they will roll this out in Aug for larger public.
FYI: Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.20314 (64-bit)-E. It was last updated on 03-Aug-21.

What version are you using? I'm on 1.4.00.19572 (64-bit)...last updated on 2021-07-29.
and all I can see is "Copy" as an option in one-to-one chat on desktop if I right click. If I click on the three dots I see the Save this message etc. but no Reply option

Indeed. The community agrees that the 'Reply' feature should be added to the Microsoft Teams Desktop.
We will appreciate it if the development team already start working on the 'Reply' feature in Microsoft Team Desktop.
"The team is hard at work" !? from May and still nothing. looks like a basic feature to me

@alex - any update on this? Feels like a basic feature to add, and would be extremely helpful.

Another user commented earlier today that the feature has been pushed out to August, do we know when in August this will be available? I sometimes use my mobile app just so I can use this feature, which is a bit ridiculous.

Could really use the 'reply' feature that is available on the IOS and Andriod apps in the windows desktop app!
Is there any reason for having this feature on MS-Teams-Android but not having it on MS-Teams-W10?
Ognjen Pejanovic commented
After more then 5 years of waiting the feature finally appeared in the roadmap.
It first it was April 2021, then it was postponed to May, June, July and now it is postponed to August.
It seems that the delivery of this No.1 requested feature has been pushed out again to August :
Seriously Microsoft, why has this been delayed again? Are your product managers even reading this UserVoice page?
POR FAVOR, COLOQUEM ESSE BOTÃO LOGOOOOOOOO NO CHAT
Só falta isso para minha empresa aprovar o uso!!

Seems like no one from microsoft ever read this messages, is hilarious why you didn't implement that yet ? its a 5+ years old feature in a lot of applications.

Is there a public roadmap for Teams development? Because I really can't understand what may be more important than this feature. Maybe only https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17750851-i-want-to-use-multiple-teams-accounts-at-the-same

This feature is already available. Please follow below steps to reply on specific chat.
# Copy the message in which you want to reply.
# Paste that message in "Type a new message" section
# Press Shift + Enter to go to the next line
# Add ">" this sign (Shift + full stop button) and press space
Now you can write whatever you want to reply on that chat.
Please Add reply button ASAP. If you want I can program it for free.

Microsoft has a tendancy to wait it out ... like for Chrome to kill browser market then M1 MacOS to kill laptop market ... desparate wait for someone to kill Teams for them to really start getting serious about any of their own product ... SAD truth
