Any update on this?
What is happening with this feature. This should have been released with Teams version 1. All instant messaging can do this simple feature.
WAY overdue. Basically, about **** time. It should've already been done.

Looking forward to this feature, helps avoid miscommunication. I am always reaching for my phone to respond inline on certain chats on teams.
Nearly 49k votes and years of no advance in this feature.
I really don't believe that MS is working "hard" on this feature.
Or will it be released in Windows 11 within preinstalled Teams2.0 ?
can't wait for it !!!

Any plans to add Reply / Forward features on Desktop version on Teams ?
It makes life easier in group chat in Teams to respond to specific messages and also to forward specific messages and pictures without need of retyping or loosing formatting
I am wondering how come MS Implementation team forget about this basic, useful (Kind of important) feature!!!!
I hope MS add this feature in every MS Team Apps, let's keep finger cross MS be quick.

Looks like it is on the Teams Roadmap...
Microsoft Teams: Reply to a specific message
When chatting in Teams, you will be able to reply a specific message. The original message will be quoted in the reply text box, helping everyone in the chat to more easily understand the message’s context. Quoted replies will be available in 1:1, Group and Meeting chats.
Feature ID: 81113
Added to Roadmap: 3/19/2021

+1 this is crucial function (right now I'm using my phone app to quote messages as this is possible there - but it's really NOT convenient)
in a group chat, being able to reply to a specific comment while others added new comments in between is crucial
pl add the reply feature asap, so that much time is saved in response

Can you just imagine how atrocious the code must be that it takes them 18 months to add something like this?
Not that we didn't know it was a huge steaming pile of **** when you watch it take 3 seconds to render a few hundred bytes of text.
Which it's doing because it had to "switch" to the same conversation you were already looking at, so that you could clear the notification of a reaction to a post.
Which you saw happen in realtime but you have to do it because otherwise teams won't stop nagging you that there's something new.
Many productive. Such collaborate.

Teams reply to specific message in chat for desktop has taken more time than world war 2 to end ... think of it !!
MSFT Team has decided to give up in updating feature in existing version and move on to WIN 11. Marvelous and Bravo for the genius logic.
