Let Teams respect the "Mute all other sounds" when in a call setting
If you are listening to music in your headset and place or recieve a call
sounds are not muted even though the setting is set to mute all other sounds.
We also seen an issue where sounds are initially muted on incoming call, but then turned up significantly when the call is picked up.

Apps should make life more easy, without this feature it becomes more a struggle..
No progress since Skype -

Works with Skype (the low end product), does not work with Teams (the high end product)! Please make it available asap.

Things that are so obvious you do not notice them because every other software developer thought about resurface when using Microsoft.
Why the need to manually turn off the music you are listening to to pick up incoming call? Why ignore system setting to mute sounds when in call? -

This is another basic feature which really should have been included at launch, not still being asked for now.
Please fix this ASAP, especially since the workaround of using the Windows 10 setting to mute/quiet other audio is completely ignored by Teams!

Currently when in a Teams video meeting, notification sounds from Outlook (new mail) or Teams (new separate chat messages), or any system sound still plays and can be heard by attendees. This is unprofessional and difficult to work around. Most of our staff end up closing Outlook during calls. But really, Teams should respect/respond to the setting the original poster highlighted. Team should be able to communicate to Windows that it is communication activity.

This actually used to work in Teams, but with a relatively recent update this stopped working. I think it actually was advertised in an even older release note for Teams that media would be paused while on a call.
This no longer works. I guess this has fixed this issue, so it should definitely be an option: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/36634342--let-the-music-play
Muting would be a kind of workaround. I think it would be better to pause media, but I guess this should work like when you get a call on a cell phone.

I have the same issue as David below, except I'm getting this only for the desktop Spotify application.

I have the opposite problem. Teams calls is muting all other incoming sound from my headphones, and I can't find any way to prevent it. I've tried everything, including making sure "Do Nothing" is checked, disabling advanced features on all sound devices, etc. I can listen to multiple sources at the same time until I join a teams call. I want to listen to music while on calls, as my work calls sometimes last hours on end.

This is just plain lazy to me, how is this not a feature. One team in Microsoft bills this functionality into its OS and the other team just ignored it?

All ideas circle around the same feature - make it configurable to: turn off / lower volume / keep on playing - music when user joins a call
