Background Static Noise in Teams meetings
Microsoft Teams creates a buzzing noise whenever connected to a meeting. Especially, when the other participants are on mute.
Considering Teams as Microsoft's upcoming product this issue projects it in a poor light when a whole organisation face this issue.
The issue occurs when connected to any network.
Teams would be a great tool if this issue is rectified in the coming update.
We have this hissing noise issue in our organization. It is a huge distraction from the work that needs to be done. I'm going to try to keep the mic open with some music playing thus keeping the "comfort noise" disengaged. Has anyone tried that?
White Noise seems to appear when a user calls into the published audio conference phone number and takes place when a users name is usually announced. Users connecting via computer audio are fine.

We're a Dell shop, and only have issues when the MS Teams participant joins from a Dell 5285 detachable. All people in our company with those models cause the hissing noise on the call. All other participants are muted. We have noted that when the participant removes their power adaptor, the hissing stops. But this is not a great fix when those same people use a docking station with monitors and other peripherals important to the meeting for them.
Dell pls help!

I have the same problem in most of the meetings recently on my office computer, no matter one on one or multiple participants. Very confusing. The noise keeps coming back if anyone on the other side don't talk. I only have one meeting without noise, which is a one-on-one.
We had to terminate our meeting because of the loud buzzing noise that drowned out our speaker. I'm opening a ticket and I recorded it.
My company has started using Teams a lot, and this is a huge issue. The noise seems to fall off once people start talking but it drives me to turn down the speaker volume until I can barely hear people talk. If only one is talking it persists. Like everyone else, zoom does not have this problem on the same hardware or on any hardware for that matter. When I hear MS saying it is my hardware, that's just excuse making. If microsoft's big conferencing software doesn't work on a Dell Latitude 7490, which is a fairly expensive business laptop, then shame on MS. Don't blame the hardware for your shoddy programming.
I also have the same problem, is there anyway to solve this problem?
When I use Bluetooth headphones the sound is a great initially. The every minute or so there is a static sound for about 3 seconds and it is very annoying.
Microsoft Teams has been inflicted on our organization. Unfortunately I'll be chatting on a team convo and this ****** static noise pops up. Fairly recent Macbook. I close Teams and sound goes away. Suggestions?
I confirm software generated noise - or it would be better to call it "comfort noise" as it seems intended. Very annoying for me on headphones :/ To the point that I'm looking for alternative methods of communication...
Likewise just switched from skype to teams white noise is awful. Ideas??

Had a conference call today where random phantom static/white noise continued to interrupt the meeting even though all participants were muted. This is the first time we've had this issue with Teams but with phone participants and guests, it seemed to have triggered whatever bug this is.
Same issue here and it's a bloody nuisance- my set up works fine with webex, zoom and Ring Central but with Teams it's constant. I wasted £40 on another headset only to have the same issue
Same Issue to me with my Bose QC35 II. It works pretty fine, until i start my first MS Teams Conference. Bad to say, I mostly have calls 6-7 hrs a day, so it is pretty stressing me up.

I can confirm the same. My assumption is that somehow Teams is trying to auto level the sound but because there is no sound, it just amplifies the noise. In a recent meeting it was completely quiet until one person said something, went back on mute, and then it slowly got louder white noise. You can even hear it stepping up level by level.
It then goes back down when someone makes a noise.

Having the same issue as Akgal06 except:
- Sound comes and goes and seems to coincide with the fan in the laptop 6 month old Dell Latitude 7400 2 in 1
- Happens within Teams calls and meetings. All participants can hear the noise
- Noise goes away if we mute the mic but the user/laptop this is affecting still hears the noise.
- Happens when using built in mic and speakers or headset (Bluetooth or USB)
We have contacted Dell and had the fan and heatsink replaced as well and replaced the Motherboard in case the audio hardware had some sort of short or experienced interference.
I just did a test call with the affected PC and recorded it with Teams. Tested the mute function. Muting on their side, I could not hear the noise but they still could. Muting my side had no effect, heard the noise on both ends. I tried boosting and reducing the gain on the Mic in control panel as well.
I attached the recording of this call. Is this what everyone is hearing?
Is there a way to configure or remove the white noise in case this is the issue?
Same issue. I am told people can hear what sounds like a plane or vacuum sound. I can't hear it but they do. I have tried 4 different headphone sets. Same issue. Nothing is on except the computer, no other speakers/ electronic equipment except my iPhone is on.
When in a meeting the people on the other end of the call hear a lot of static coming from my mic what can I do? It doesn't happen on other video platforms
I can confirm this does occur too, the good news is this is consistent in how it happens. the bad news is it happens. since everyone started working from home, we are connect to a teams call all day, so this starts causing actual headache. At some point after the call and at the end of the day away from my computer, I still think I am hearing white noise, so it can get dangerous. This is how the issue happens. When you first join a call and before anyone speaks, there is no white noise, as soon as someone starts speaking and then everyone gets muted after the conversation is completed, the white noise starts. If you were to hang up and re-join the call, the white noise disappears.

This is super frustrating. Tried restarting computer. I'm using regular wired Apple headphones plugged in via 3.5mm and the onboard sound on my Lenovo Yoga. I don't have Skype running. I do have on-premise Skype merged to Teams. Whenever I join a call, it sounds like an airplane to all participants and then goes away after a few seconds. I can't hear it but all participants hear it. This has never happened up until a few weeks ago. Happens for other folks at my company, too, so highly doubt its my hardware/devices as I've been using the exact same setup
