share custom area of screen
Teams full desktop screen sharing is not usable when one person has a wide or high resolution screen. Others who do not have a similar monitor have no way to see or zoom adequately. It would be ideal to have the ability to share a custom area of the screen similar to what Zoom meetings currently allow. As wide screen and curved monitors become more popular, this will become more important to address.

Yes, it just creates more friction in a day when you can't easily share a part of an ultrawide monitor - colleagues can't follow what I'm doing if I share a whole screen, and sharing an app is inadequate because need to frequently swap apps. It just makes working together more difficult. Zoom has this feature.
ASAP Please :)
This feature is a must if you have 5120x1440p monitor.
Please develop this feature, it would be super useful!~!
Please develop this feature, my colleagues with smaller screens are unable to read text I present from my entire wide-screen.
Yes please - this would be invaluable for users of large monitors.
Microsoft please plan to release this feature and due to pandemic everyone started working from home and buy wider screen.
I have a 55" screen. Having to switch between individual windows is a pain! this feature would definitely add alot of value as many people are starting to use bigger screens for increased productivity
This feature would be game changer for training and demo's. Renders the investment in a 49" monitor useless!
How odd that Microsoft don't include this feature. It renders Teams useless for what I need. A real shame.

Same here ... after "updating" my monitor from Full HD resolution to 3440x1440 I don't know how to work with Teams Desktop Sharing anymore (which unfortunately is something I use to do for hours every working day).
In my case it would be super helpful to combine this with Microsoft Win10 PowerToys - Fancy Zones so that it would be possible to share one specific zone.

Could take the form of restraining the capture zone to an area of standard format (such as 16:9) stretched to fit and centered. No fancy sizing UI needed for v1.
FancyZones can then help people efficiently manage their windows to fit into that area.
As everybody else already mentioned here: sharing screen will be a useless feature with my ultra wide screen, or a nightmare for my coworkers, until this feature is delivered.

This would be really good feature to have on Teams. Got used to using this on Zoom and really very disappointed this is not available on Teams.

Very important. The most missed feature from zoom. Please realise it, it’s so easy to do!
Users who have ultra wide monitors like 3440x1440 or 3840x1600 resolution want to share a part of the screen, not a single program. For trainings for example I need to show a lot of different applications and need to switch between them and show it to the users while beeing in the webconference so I need a solution in Microsoft Teams to share only a part of the monitor. LG for example provides monitor tools like "LG Onscreen" to divide a monitor virtually in many virtual monitors and Microsoft Teams should be able to share a virtual monitor inside my physical monitor.

Looking forward to this, please

I have to use my laptop screen at the side for sharing a screen - but the downside being I can barely see any detail ! I'm going to try a 2nd normal size monitor - which kind of defeats the ultra wide.
The most frustrating thing being some of the dumb tech responses Ive read from Microsoft staff who just really dont get the question/issue !

This is one reason why Zoom is eating your lunch...
