share custom area of screen
Teams full desktop screen sharing is not usable when one person has a wide or high resolution screen. Others who do not have a similar monitor have no way to see or zoom adequately. It would be ideal to have the ability to share a custom area of the screen similar to what Zoom meetings currently allow. As wide screen and curved monitors become more popular, this will become more important to address.
Definitely need this. Not just for large wide-screens. For following instructions on a small latop screen too!
When I screen share, it is sometimes useful to share as a half-screen window to enable participants to snap MS Teams to one half of the screen and follow steps to edit/write notes on the other half. But, having to stop and start screen share for different windows is a pain and tedious for the audience. THIS FEATURE IS NEEDED!!!
'Attach a File' didn't succeed. Here is the script source:
Local $w = 960 ;1712
Local $h = 540 ; 963
Local $yOffset = 60
Local $hGUI = GUICreate("Screen Proxy", $w, $h, $w, $yOffset, BitOR($WS_BORDER,$WS_POPUP))
Local $iMsg = GUIGetMsg()
; Capture top left corner of the screen plus y offset
Local $hBMP = _ScreenCapture_Capture("", 0, $yOffset, $w, $h + $yOffset)
Local $hBitmap = _GDIPlus_BitmapCreateFromHBITMAP($hBMP)
Local $hGraphic = _GDIPlus_GraphicsCreateFromHWND($hGUI)
_GDIPlus_GraphicsDrawImage($hGraphic, $hBitmap, 0, 0)
If $iMsg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Or $exitFlag = -1 Then ExitLoop
Func WM_NCHITTEST($hWnd, $iMsg, $iParam, $lParam)
#forceref $iMsg, $iParam, $lParam
If $hWnd = $hGUI Then Return $HTCAPTION
Func WM_NCRBUTTONDOWN($hWnd, $iMsg, $iParam, $lParam)
If MsgBox($MB_TASKMODAL+$MB_ICONWARNING+$MB_YESNO, "", "Exit screen capture?") = 6 Then $exitFlag = -1
I'll be glad to get this feature in Teams some day.
Since I couldn't find an applicable solution, I made a workaround script, which I use to share a part of my desktop via 'Share content->Window'. I'm attaching it here in case it can be of any help to others.
Short description: It is an AutoIt script. Adjust the width and height of the desired capture area and share the 'Screen proxy' app window via Teams. Overlapping the app window doesn't affect sharing. It is not for use with the 'Request/Allow Control' Teams feature. Also, it could be easily compiled to an exe, if one wants to avoid AutoIt installation.

2 years since this feature has been requested and still no sign?? This is a much needed feature for the many of us now using larger screens and working remotely. Used Zoom until now which has this feature but now that my workplace are encouraging people to move to Teams, this feature is sorely missing. Sharing just an app window is not enough when you need to switch apps whilst sharing.
A very much needed feature!
This is a NEED! please add this to teams.
Please add this feature in an upcoming release. Our entire team will not use Teams for any meetings with screenshares due to the lack of this functionality. There are audible groans when we find ourselves stuck in a Teams meeting and someone with an ultrawide has to struggle with stopping/starting the share to swap between applications. Really excited to see this feature in production, and thanks for all the hard work!
I need to use Teams all the time and I really want to buy an ultra widescreen monitor. But without the feature to share a separate monitor area including ALL applications in this area, it does not make sense. When switching windows/applications for demo purposes e.g. the need to reshare again and again is inefficient and senseless.
@MS Teams: Please fix this gap!
Yes so hard to run a classroom where I keep on changing windows really slows down the process

We really need this as wide monitors are becoming the norm

For wide monitors it is the must

As more people go ultra-wide or 4k, this is only going to become of greater need.

Dear Microsoft, my comments are in the attachment, which are captured on a 4k screen. Good luck reading them.
Please fix this already.
Really need this feature, I have an ultra wide monitor and only need to share half of my screen while I move docs in/out of that shared sections instead of constantly switching windows (such a pain)! Zoom already has this feature. Come one MS, you can do it!

Critical, large format / resolution displays are so common, this is extremely annoying to have to stop the share, choose another window to share and keep switching back and forth. Sharing the whole desktop is often not acceptable for privacy reasons as well (even when screen size is not an issue) but the need to share multiple windows is real.

This is an absolute must! I need this feature.

Waiting for this feature!!!

I have no idea how Microsoft Teams hasn’t released a solution for this yet. Other softwares have this feature. Users with widescreens like myself find this a real pain when we want to share our screens.

I have to change the Display Resolution to 4:3 ratio and share such screen in order that the viewer see the screen portion acordanly,,,
Should be a solution for this
Cannot share usefully off my Samsung 49". MS Teams needs to add this feature to work effectively with current technologies.
