Turn Email Thread into Chat
It would be great if you could take an email and turn that into a Teams chat. There are countless back and forth emails that could be better solved thru a Teams chat.
In Outlook there could be a button to "Convert to Chat" or "Move to Teams". This would then take the thread and recipients and move the entire conversation into Teams.

Outlook carries an overhead of administration for a lot of emails that are really just chat and should warrant no further work to classify and clear out of your Inbox whilst not losing sight of key pieces of information.
It would be good if at some point the email recipients could decide to break out into an existing or new Teams chat and the email conversation so far would be drawn into the chat as a file attachment and the insertion point noted in the chat thread and against the attachment. A link to the chat should be kept against the emails in Outlook.
It would be better if in the chat there was a separate panel to record "Key Points" (think of a better name for it) to document agreement so far on key facts, conclusions, decisions, actions and documents attached; this will provide a focused outcome and the beginnings of further action, rather than having to trawl back through the emails and chat to date and hope everyone is on the same page.
Then if you wish you could take the contents of the key points panel, and draw it back into Outlook whether an email, calendar appointment or task.
On conclusion of the chat it would be great if the key points panel could be filed in a meaningful way for recall, and have a link to the chat.

I realize this is an older post, however it is still a very relevant topic today. Email is broken. Not sure it has ever been “fixed”. Anyway, it seems with loads of apps leaning towards a more conversational approach of communicating, it’s a good time for MS to take the plunge and lead us into a new phase. Fingers crossed.
A much needed feature to move internal communication from email to Teams.

So many people use email as a "chat forum" when addressing issues. Would be much better as a Teams chat!

I had the same thought and Goggled it to find this. MS please make this happen; as another user stated, it would help to shift the email culture to TEAMS chat . Thanks you.

I love this idea because it would definitely help with a culture change to chatting instead of email chains. On the concern it would pull the wrong people in to the group doesn't really make sense. They are already in the conversation and in Outlook can ignore the conversation. If the email chain were moved to teams anyone can easily just leave the chat.
This would be an amazing feature! I'm shocked it has so little votes.

In my experience, the only problem is that an email often contains a wider group than the actual people who need to "work" on the issue... these people may already be in a team with other collaborators not on the email, and I generally don't want (for example) our CEO dragged into a detailed chat, even though he might have been on the email... the other option is to forward the email to the Team or Channel and then work on the issue from there... you then have the background issue, and who needs to be included in the communication of the final resolution. I am sure there are other ways to work, but my mantra is becoming "Work in Teams, Communicate in Email"
It would save us a lot of time. Efficiency is key.

I'm surprised this doesn't have more votes - it would really help adoption to be able to move an email conversation to a Teams chat.

Absolutely. This would be brilliant to drive adoption and save me having to manually set up a new chat and copy in the content from the email thread.

This would be awesome indeed to help move the focus from Outlook to MS Teams.
